In accordance with the Purpose, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, the facilitation of more inclusive research and a safer and more equitable research community is a responsibility shared by everyone at BCCHR, and as such, the requirement to continuously support these objectives is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Program Coordinator contributes to the development, maintenance and advancement of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Office in collaboration with the EDI Manager.

This requires participation in the planning and execution of both the strategic and operational components of the EDI Office in order to fulfill the goals of the office.

Functions overseen by this position include; program content, communication, coordination and delivery, engagement of internal and external invested parties;

and project, administrative, budgetary reporting, and evaluation support.

What you'll do

Collaborates with internal and external interested parties and serves as a liaison to ensure EDI Office initiatives are completed, reported and evaluated in order to meet commitments.

Closely tracks program progress communicating divergence and works with EDI Manager to ensure alternative actions / plans are developed, approved and implemented.

Monitors and co-ordinates payment of EDI Office invoices and expenses. Collaborates with the EDI Manager, as well as interested parties to plan, initiate, coordinate, and evaluate new initiatives and projects, ensuring strategies and arrangements are in place to maximize the outcomes.

Liaises with interested parties to implement communication plans and activities, and with external and internal interested parties to respond to requests for information, collaborate on joint initiatives and events, and to coordinate communication activities.

Ensures communications activities are carried out in compliance with PHSA policy. Provides clarification, knowledge, problem-solving and documentation in order to ensure the EDI Office projects and priorities are completed on time and on budget.

Writes, edits, and coordinates production of a variety of content and material for internal and external publications, digital and social media channels.

Coordinates and produces content for the website and EDI Office reports. Updates the EDI Office website as required. Reviews overall quality, consistency, factual accuracy, and effectiveness of EDI Office materials.

Plans, organizes and coordinates events including working group meetings, webinars, and other events as required. Coordinates and delivers special projects as assigned.

What you bring

Qualifications

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in social sciences, health care administration or a related field, plus 4 years recent related experience.

Additional education, training and / or experience in communications, project management, research assistance, or a related discipline an asset.

  • Knowledge related to the service / program area, including health systems, population health, health promotion and health literacy, research and evaluation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Solid writing and editing skills. Proven organizational, coordination, problem solving and planning abilities to ensure prioritization and management of multiple tasks and delivery of required tasks on deadline, without close supervision;

flexibility to reprioritize quickly to meet changing priorities and deliver required results on deadline. Experience conducting literature searches, best practice reviews, working collaboratively with a wide range of interested parties.

Detailed oriented. Strong computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office, database applications and web-based programs. Experience with design programs an asset.

  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have : Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Job Type : Regular, Full-Time

Salary Range : $62,239 - $89,469 / year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.

Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
