Who are we looking for?
GHD is looking for a Senior Project Manager - Civil / Linear Infrastructures to join our growing North American practice.
If you are a self-motivated professional with excellent technical abilities, project management skills, and a desire to collaborate with a team of professionals doing cutting-edge civil engineering work in an industrial, commercial, institutional and municipal development context, then this is an excellent opportunity to explore!
As part of an energetic, high-performance team, this position will require you to :
- Work closely with the team to achieve the performance criteria established for the business group on civil engineering projects involving outdoor landscaping and buried or surface technical networks, particularly those related to water distribution and collection, and the efficient and responsible management of runoff, for our industrial, commercial, institutional and municipal clients ;
- Direct and carry out the design of plans, specifications and estimates for linear infrastructures projects such as sewer systems, waterworks, roads, etc.
- ensuring integration with the various disciplines involved;
- Perform and supervise design calculations, ensuring that plans and specifications comply with current standards, regulations and codes;
- Write and supervise the writing of detailed technical reports;
- Estimate work costs;
- Manage several tasks simultaneously within a multidisciplinary team;
- Supervise the work of technicians, drafters and EIT assigned to the project;
- Participate and actively contribute to research, obtaining and carrying out projects;
- Support and comply with the requirements of GHD's health, safety and environment (HSE) management system;
- Support the development of proposals to win targeted contracts that leverage GHD's capabilities and value proposition;
- Manage and direct the execution of technical projects while ensuring client satisfaction and that projects are completed safely, on scope, on time and on budget.
Technical skills required :
- Proven experience in managing and carrying out civil engineering projects (linear infrastructures) ;
- Excellent understanding of current design standards;
- Master urban hydraulics concepts to develop optimal design and operational solutions;
- Experience of managing and supervising a project’s team in a multidisciplinary context, including detailed design and technical assistance during the construction phase;
- Experience in developing technical recommendations, as well as writing and developing project proposals;
- Up-to-date knowledge of current best practices, inspection and survey technologies, and computer-aided design methods (Civil 3D, Autocad, Revit, BIM).
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline (construction engineering or other);
- PMP certification or related degree in engineering management an asset;
- At least 10 years' experience in linear infrastructures design with at least 5 years' experience in project management in the field of application;
- Member in good standing of Professionnal Engineer P. Eng. in any of the Maritime provinces.
- Must hold a valid driver's license, a car and be willing to travel within Canada as required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to develop, coach and lead professional technical staff;
- Ability to manage priorities and intervene as needed;
- Be able to access construction sites as needed and have the required certifications to do so.
