Electrical Design Engineer

Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5-15 years of experience in the design of liquid filled power transformers and mobile substations from 5 to 200MVA, up to 240 kV.
Major Areas of ResponsibilityPerform the electrical design of power transformers from 1 to 200 MVA and up to 230 kV to client requirements in accordance with company design standards, practices and industry codesValidate designs with simulation techniques transient analysis, field plot analysisOptimize the designs with respect to product quality, reliability, longevity and costWork in close cooperation with the manufacturing team to ensure design allows ease of manufacture and testingInterface directly with client to understand customer technical requirementsPrepare manufacturing work instructions for winding and bills of winding materials
RequirementsStrong understanding of transformer engineering theory and practice5+ years of power transformer design experience, preferably to IEEE and CSA design standardsExperience with mobile substation design is highly desirableProficiency in developing detailed Electrical drawings, specifications and manufacturing work instructionsHighly motivated individual with the ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlinesAble to effectively discuss, explain and coordinate transformer designs with peers and across functionsExcellent organization skills combined with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailSolid computer skills including simulation, optimization, computational analysis, 2D CADBachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering.
Strong communication skills in English, spoken and writtenP.Eng eligible
