Role Overview :
The Manager, Learning Programs is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive learning and development programs.
This role will focus on creating innovative, effective courses using sound instructional design principles. The position involves collaborating with stakeholders to conduct needs assessments, design curriculum, curate content, and oversee the development of engaging learning experiences across various modalities.
This individual will drive program adoption by communicating their value and alignment with organizational competencies and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
Course Development :
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify learning gaps and opportunities for new program development
- Lead the instructional process for new courses, ensuring alignment with adult learning principles and industry requirements.
- Assist in the design and development of curriculum, learning objectives, and course content for various learning modalities (e.
g., in-person, virtual, e-learning, blended)
- Curate and adapt existing content to create engaging, relevant learning materials
- Implement innovative instructional strategies to enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention
- Oversee the creation of multimedia learning assets (e.g, videos, interactive modules, simulations)
- Ensure all course materials adhere to brand guidelines and maintain consistent messaging
Program Management and Evaluation :
- Manage the full lifecycle of learning programs, from conception to implementation and evaluation using the ADDIE model
- Develop and implement new administrative processes related to learning programs
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, gathering feedback and metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Identify operational improvement opportunities and implement updates as necessary
- Contribute to department annual planning of long-term program development
Facilitator and SME Management :
- Source, retain, and support subject matter experts (SMEs) and facilitators for courses and trainings
- Manage contracts with instructors and program facilitators, ensuring timely completion and proper filing
- Monitor and evaluate facilitator performance, providing feedback and support as needed
Communications and Learner Engagement :
- Respond to and manage all inquiries about Learning Programs
- Communicate with learners and organizations on behalf of the association
- Develop and implement strategies to increase program adoption and engagement
Administration :
- Manage the Learning inbox and related communications
- Oversee certificate course development, including work plans, invoices and content coordination
- Other job-related tasks as assigned
Skills and Qualifications :
- Minimum 5 years of experience in learning and development required
- Post-secondary degree / diploma in adult education, instructional design, or related field.
- Proven experience in conducting needs assessments and developing curriculum
- Proven experience in building strategic relationships
- Strong project management skills and leading new developments
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theories and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE)
- Familiarity with HTML
- Familiarity with D2L Brightspace or other similar LMS
- Strong computer literacy and experience in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external vendors
- Ability to prioritize competing demands
- Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) designation preferred
