Scouten Engineering is a dynamic consulting civil and structural engineering firm based in Prince George, British Columbia.

The services we provide our clients in addition to nuts and bolts’ civil and structural engineering include; Cause and Origin assessments, expert testimony, feasibility studies, detailed design drawings and specifications, tender and contract administration, site plans, terrain models, and grading plans.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be currently registered, or eligible to be registered, as a professional engineer (P. Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.

Projects will be a blend of both structural (primarily) and civil (secondary) work such as : buildings, resource sector and highway bridges, machine bases and foundations, platforms, and site development and utility services.

This position requires excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare clearly written correspondence, engineering reports and technical studies, and to communicate effectively face-to-face with clients.

You will be expected to work independently, and delegate engineering and drafting assignments to members of our team. You will also be expected to provide mentorship to the other staff including junior engineers and technologist.

This position includes working in a modern, well equipped consulting engineering office with the opportunity for occasional field work, including travel around beautiful central and northern British Columbia, and occasionally Alberta, Yukon, and Saskatchewan.

Requirements

We are in particular need of a Senior Structural Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in :

• Element and system design
• Conceptual and detailed engineering design
• Preparation and checking of engineering calculations
• Development of sketches for distribution to drafting staff
• Management of individual project files
• Client liaison and business development
• Authoring and / or review of engineering reports
• Management and mentoring of junior engineering staff
• Occasional site visits
