Operations Manager Position
Overview of Responsibilities
The Operations Manager (Plant Manager) is in charge of overseeing and providing strategic direction to operations Leaders.
This role is responsible for all aspects of site operations. The Operations Manager is responsible for managing Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, while also collaborating with Finance, Quality, Human Resources, and Environmental Health and Safety.
This position involves developing and adhering to the annual production budget, participating in new product development and planning, and attending various organizational meetings.
The Operations Manager is responsible for supervising all direct and indirect reports in a way that benefits all employees and fosters a positive working relationship with them.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Continuously enhance Employee Safety systems, identify and resolve issues, and strive for a Zero mindset on employee injuries
- Maintain robust Food Safety and Quality systems, exceeding customer expectations
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to identify capacity constraints and ensure consistent 98.5% level customer service every month
- Implement the company's Performance Systems and Lean approach to Manufacturing, promoting proactive communication throughout the organization
- Lead by example on the floor, calibrating teams on performance, using the performance system approach
- Achieve 3-5% annual cost savings through identifying and executing projects to improve OEE, reduce product waste, and minimize unnecessary costs
- Create and execute annual business plans for People, Safety, Quality, Service, and Costs
- Lead and set clear goals, objectives, and performance expectations for the Plant teams, regularly calibrating them on results
- Monitor daily operation schedules for all departments, ensuring accuracy and achievement of daily operational goals
- Provide strategic guidance to the organization through participation in cross-functional meetings and data analysis on sales trends and cost performance
- Develop a 3-5 year strategic plan for the facility, ensuring supply and addressing infrastructure needs to support organizational growth
- Enhance facility stewardship and asset maintenance
- Participate in new product development and planning by evaluating the cost and feasibility of production
- Lead the implementation of new product introduction for the facility
- Adhere to the approved operations annual budget and provide budget updates and adjustments as required to the Vice President
Minimum Job Requirements :
Education / Certifications :
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering or Food Science
Experience :
- Minimum of ten years' experience in a production facility, with at least three years as a Plant Manager
- Preferably have experience in the food industry
