Residence Life Coordinator (2 Positions)
Opportunity
MacEwan University seeks enthusiastic Residence Life Coordinators for two full-time continuing opportunities with our Residence Life Department.
Reporting to the Supervisor, Residence Life, you will be responsible for developing, administering, and promoting a positive community culture within the residence while ensuring the safety of the residents.
You will create opportunities for student development and implement programs that contribute to our residents' personal and community growth.
You will be responsible for providing operational support to the Residence Life Supervisor, coordinating resident development and wellness activities, and overseeing the mentorship and daily expectations of the Resident Assistants (RAs).
You will play an essential role in ensuring the Residence Community Standards are being followed.
Key responsibilities include :
- Leading the assigned team of RAs and Senior RAs (SRAs), including assignment and monitoring of workload and ensuring all Residence standard procedures and processes are followed;
- Preparing schedules for approval by the Supervisor and arranging shift coverage when necessary, including handling any last-minute adjustments to the schedule;
- Serving as a point of contact, reference and escalation for RAs and SRAs : problem-solving issues presented and escalating to Supervisor as required;
- Making recommendations for improvements and updates to the Residence Community Standards and other departmental documentation for review by the Supervisor;
- Developing, implementing, maintaining and evaluating an ongoing robust and diverse wellness program for members of the MacEwan Residence community with other Residence Life Coordinators; and
- Assisting with developing an annual plan, including budget, for educational, recreational, social and cultural programs offered to the Residence community.

Qualifications
- A minimum of a diploma in a related field
- A minimum of one year of experience in Residence Services
- Experience with resident and property management platforms (, StarRez) is an asset.
- Current certification in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) offered through the Canadian Mental Health Association preferred.
- Previous event planning experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, OneDrive and SharePoint
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Position Requirements
- Security Clearance Check will be conducted as a condition of employment.
- The work schedule is Monday to Friday; however, shifts between the teams are staggered to provide full operational coverage to support residents.
- The incumbent will share on-call (carry cell phone) responsibilities for emergency after-hours coverage.
- The incumbent must work during move-in / out weekends, Open House, and other special events.
- The incumbent is required to share in coverage (on-call) during the December break.
- This position falls under an overtime averaging agreement.
