Your opportunity at Arc’teryx : As aSenior Research Engineer Advanced Concepts (AC),you work with a highly technical interdisciplinary group of forward-thinkers to generate knowledge, apply are search and engineering point-of-view, and deliver solutions for the mountain athlete everywhere.

With support from your team, you drive and contribute to technical projects across all product categories. You apply your curiosity and experience in solving complex problems to the intersection of outdoor apparel and equipment and cutting-edge innovation.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

If you were a Senior Research Engineer - Advanced Concepts, now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing :

  • Defining science-based project objectives, developing robust performance evaluation methodologies and creating technical solutions in support of the Advanced Concepts priority projects
  • Leadingthe performance evaluation processes for Advanced Concepts projectsthrough validating research hypotheses and scientific POVs,testing both on athletes and in the laboratory
  • Discovering product insights through completing applied research on our mountain athletes andtranslating findingsinto innovative solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Creating new test methods and processes that translate connect testing in the mountains to testing in our laboratory and on materials
  • Building infrastructure so that testing protocols, data assessment and reporting is consistent, easily shared and centrally regulated
  • Advising on the most modern testing and analysis equipment for our Research and Engineering (R&D) function
  • Partnering with both academic and industry partners to bring in specialized expertise and equipment
  • Designing and fabricating novel test fixtures and equipment, to support in product performance validation
  • Collaborating across the Advanced Concepts and Product Creation teams
  • Partnering with AC leadership to maintain a robust Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio, proprietary solutions and exclusivity on materials projects with in alignment with the Legal team
  • Partnering with the Innovation Operations team on R&D specific resourcing opportunities, including funding, academic and internship programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth)
  • Driving key initiatives to support the future of Arc’teryx with a focus on product circularity

Are you our next Senior Research Engineer - Advanced Concepts?

  • You have a master’s degree in engineering or research, specializing in mechanical, biomedical, sports,biomechanics orkinesiology
  • You have 7+yearsof technical apparel and / or equipment experience in product innovation, applied research, engineering and / or performance validationenvironment
  • You have 5+ years of experience in a technical role in the product creation industry
  • You have experience with experimental design, data collection and analysis, as well as dissemination of findings
  • You have experience with creating and executing performance validation strategies for technical products
  • You are energized byproblem solving in the fields of applied human research, advanced manufacturing, and performance validation in both the athlete / science labenviornments
  • You are experienced in identifying, creating and protectingIP with internal and external legal teams
  • You have exceptional communication skills, including a proven ability to communicate findings to both scientists and nonscientists, with strong presentation skills
  • You have a deep understanding of technical apparel and / or performance hardgoods design and / or production
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
  • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
  • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
  • You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it

$104,000 - $160,000 a yearA reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$104,000 - CAD$160,000 at the time of this posting.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and / or training.

Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
