Reporting to the Facilities & Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Project Manager, Electrical & Infrastructure is responsible for overseeing and managing the Capital expenditure projects of the Vancouver shipyard’s facilities, including buildings, Electrical systems, equipment and infrastructure.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring that the shipyard's facilities are safe, efficient, and conducive to productivity.

The Project Manager is expected to take on projects across various disciplines within the facility, demonstrating flexibility and a broad skill set in managing diverse operational tasks.

The successful candidate will have some experience with electrical projects and demonstrated knowledge of electrical systems.

Note : Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you’ll do

  • Act as the subject matter expert for all shipyard projects, with a thorough understanding of electrical equipment and infrastructure needs essential for continuous shipbuilding operations.
  • Lead and deliver projects of varying scales, ensuring meticulous planning, execution, and closure within budget and timeline expectations while minimizing disruptions to shipbuilding activities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to align project objectives with organizational goals, ensuring efficient execution without halting shipbuilding processes.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to track project progress, quality, and adherence to defined specifications.
  • Track costs and schedules, helping maintain project alignment with budget and timeline expectations, ensuring operational continuity.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations for enhancing facility operations, focusing on non-disruptive improvements.
  • Guide the team through complex problem-solving scenarios, ensuring solutions are aligned with the facility’s operational objectives and standards, and do not interfere with shipbuilding activities.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or post-secondary education in a related field or combination of education and experience in electrical systems and equipment.
  • 4-6 years of combined experience in technical and project management experience in an industrial or heavy construction work environment.
  • 4-6 years of managerial experience, with at least 2 are in a production environment, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficient in directing and leading within a unionized work environment and working collaboratively with cross functioning teams.
  • Familiarity with shipyard industry work processes, equipment and practices is considered an asset.
  • Excellent conflict management and organizational skills.
  • Experience developing and managing an annual operating budget.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Outlook.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, results oriented, with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, leading change with an inclusive and growth mindset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the capability to manage concurrent projects in a fast-paced setting.
  • Superior communication skills, adept at engaging with both technical staff and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, fostering a collaborative environment while promoting a culture of accountability and high performance.

The estimated salary for this position is $103,500-$126,500. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.

The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
