Salary Range : CAD 165,000 – 210,000 gross / year
About the Role
A senior-level Systems Engineer – Electric Propulsion is sought to lead the design, integration, and validation of advanced electric propulsion architectures for hybrid eVTOL aircraft.
This role involves close collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to develop high-performance, safe, and certifiable propulsion systems, including motors, inverters, motor controllers, and power distribution units. You will be a key driver in defining system-level requirements, validating performance, and ensuring certification compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead system-level design and integration of electric propulsion units (EPUs), including motors, inverters, and thermal management components
Define system and sub-system requirements, interface specifications, and performance targets aligned with vehicle-level needs
Support development and verification of motor control algorithms and high-voltage power electronics
Analyze and optimize propulsion performance across operational scenarios—hover, transition, and cruise
Oversee thermal modeling and cooling strategies in collaboration with thermal and mechanical teams
Coordinate with suppliers for component selection, integration, and validation according to aerospace standards
Support safety and reliability analyses, including FMEA, FTA, FHA, and contribute to system architecture trade studies
Participate in lab-based testing, HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) setups, and ground / flight test campaigns
Develop and maintain documentation for system design, requirements traceability, and certification compliance
Act as an integral technical contributor and interface between project management and other engineering teams
Challenge the status quo and introduce new approaches to improve engineering quality, productivity, and delivery timelines
Stay current with developments in electric propulsion, systems engineering, and eVTOL technologies
Drive continuous improvement of processes to increase safety, efficiency, and reliability
Requirements
7+ years of experience in aerospace or automotive systems engineering, covering all phases of the product lifecycle
Hands-on experience with electric propulsion systems, high-voltage power electronics, or related disciplines
Familiarity with eVTOL certification regulations (TCCA, FAA, EASA)
Strong systems engineering background and experience with cross-disciplinary integration
Proven ability to work in complex, fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
What is Offered
Competitive senior-level compensation
No fixed holiday cap
Group benefits plan
Company stock purchase program
Hybrid work options
Opportunity to work on cutting-edge eVTOL aerospace projects
