The Department of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Department of Post-Acute Care & Rehabilitation at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute University Health Network (UHN) are seeking a full-time academic physiatrist. The successful candidate will be an academic clinician who can demonstrate scholarly achievement and clinical excellence. The successful applicant must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto and will be expected to work as outlined in the academic position description of Clinician Investigator, Clinician in Quality and Innovation or Clinician Teacher. Effective start date is January 1, 2025, or as soon as possible.
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate clinician who would like to grow with our program with a strong commitment to rehabilitation of individuals living with the secondary health conditions associated with spinal cord injury / disorder. The candidate will be expected to develop innovative models of rehabilitation care including roles in acute care, outpatient rehabilitation, tele-rehabilitation and telehealth supported consultation across the province. The successful candidate will share the provision of inpatient and outpatient consultations at UHN-Toronto Rehab’s Lyndhurst Centre and Toronto Western Hospital’s Krembil Neuroscience program.
Toronto Rehab’s inpatient Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Program at Lyndhurst Centre is Canada’s largest freestanding SCI rehabilitation centre with 300 inpatient admissions and an associated 20,000 tertiary outpatient rehabilitation clinic visits per annum and a robust research program that covers the continuum of care from injury onset to living and aging with multi-morbidity.
The successful candidates must hold an MD degree. The successful candidates must have, or be eligible for, both Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification and fellowship in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate should have completed or be prepared to complete advanced training with Masters or equivalent in the areas of innovation, quality improvement, research or teaching, or be willing to complete the aforementioned training. Fellowship training in SCI Medicine is an asset, but not a requirement.
Estimated remuneration includes base support from the Alternative Funding program plus fee-for-clinical-service income, and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2024, or until position is filled.
