Northern Transformer is a Canadian-owned, fast growing manufacturer of substation and mobile power transformers. Our team delivers transformers of the highest quality through superior design, quality workmanship and attention to our clients’ individual needs.
Due to the growth of our business, we have an opening for a Project Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of Project Engineering, Manufacturing and relevant Operations knowledge in a manufacturing environment. Strong product design and hands-on manufacturing knowledge will be an asset.
Reporting to Upper Management, the successful applicant will assist in managing the construction and implementation of new production capacity / facility and associated manufacturing equipment. Duties include preparing reports, overseeing the planning and implementation and ensuring projects are on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
Overseeing various aspects of the project to ensure successful completion within established parameters
Working closely with team members to define timelines, budgets, and project goals
Reviewing and administering contracts related to the project, ensuring compliance and fairness
Coordinating and providing technical guidance and expertise
Managing the acquisition of materials and services needed for the project's execution
Preparing and presenting progress reports to stakeholders, keeping them informed about project status
Review and analysis of client specifications
Ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, building codes, and relevant regulations
Identifying project risks and implementing strategies to mitigate potential issues
Overseeing the testing, commissioning, and inspection of project components and systems
Visiting job sites and interacting with contractors working on the project
Participating in project close-out tasks, including final acceptance reports, preparation of maintenance manuals and training
Requirements
University degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology / Technologist diploma with relevant work experience
Minimum 5-10 years of related experience in manufacturing and project engineering
Project management experience with new production equipment and building projects will be an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with various software, Microsoft products and CAD software
Excellent organizational, time management, leadership and decision-making skills
Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Self-motivated with positive drive and commitment to maintain strong process controls
Ability to work independently to support the engineering, quality and production teams
Ability to plan and adapt to unforeseen situations
Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards and best practices
