Are you scrolling on your social media during the holidays doom scrolling, creating your own fantastic content for business or personal and wondering how you can get paid without selling pictures of your feet online through META? Love being creative, but also get a shiver by analyzing metrics, watching engagement dashboards, and other nerdy things that the left side of your brain gets fired up? We are an established but also growing, high-performing real estate team looking for a fun, organized, positive self-starter who adores taking care of others, loves details, and thrives working independently. If you’re equal parts creative storyteller and a sucker for a good SOP, you’ll love this.

Responsibilities : The Jist
Remember when this career seemed like a joke job meant for teenagers and wanderers who took endless pictures of their food or drunk pictures with their friends? Ya, me too. I’m a middle-aged woman who didn’t expect to see the value proposition that social media would offer businesses. But we’re a long way away from 2006 and the expectations of this career are much different than they once were. So let’s be creative and professional with a HIGH level of accountability, desire to learn and grow, while also looking outside the norm for fun ways that represent us. The Social Media for Dummies book won’t cut it anymore; be prepared to grow, assume there’s more to learn, and be collaborative with many different personalities.
Attetniom to detail your jam? Does that typo give you an eye twitch you can’t shake because it’ll forever be on the interwebs? Not only do you care about maintaining branding consistency, you also care about making sure things are accurate, but beautiful; fun, but clean; interesting, but not overwhelming. Content is forward-facing to the public, so let’s make sure we get addresses right, posts up on time and written authentically without grammatical errors.
Unsure of how to do something and need direction? Should you ask the middle-aged woman or turn to the ‘ol internet first? We both know the answer. I mean, you could ask me, but I’ll just turn to Clippy and ask. Don’t know who Clippy is? There’s a great opportunity to test your research skills and learn a new pop culture reference from the 90s. And yes. He was as annoying as he looks.
Have you heard of Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok? Great! It doesn’t make you qualified. What would make you qualified is to take those tools (and maybe more) and bring some data. Analytics and metrics, yo. We want to see what’s working, by split testing, reviewing engagement, ROI…business words like that. Basically, we don’t want to do things that don’t work. We want the social media equivalent of a Ford Tempo - runs well, easy to fix, and reliable. If we trade our Tempo in for a Yugo, we’re going in the wrong direction. Well, actually we’ll be stuck on the highway thumbing a ride home…not ideal. We don’t want to keep putting money into a POS.
If you’re reading this post and thinking, “huh, this sounds fun!” You’d be right. I’d love this career if I weren’t already doing something else, like running a company. With that said, I’m highly unqualified. Rather than attending university or college to learn such skills as graphic design, video editing, social media planning / scheduling and other skills required to create a high-level social media strategy, I did a graduate degree in Medieval History. And yes, I did have a hard time finding employment.
Speaking of finding employment with an irrelevant degree in a Canadian market, I was able to blow someone’s mind enough that I was hired on the spot! How? What I lacked in skills and experience, I made up in personality, kindness, collaboration, and a “YES! I’ll help with that!” attitude. We want people who are focused enough on their daily responsibilities, but flexible enough to help in random areas if we need it. We’re a Team. Not a solo baton twirler.
Qualifications :
- Experience in managing social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, with a focus on real estate.
- Ability to create engaging, authentic content that aligns with our brand voice and resonates with our audience.
- Proven track record of using analytics and metrics to drive social media strategies and improve engagement.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring all content is accurate, visually appealing, and error-free.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, adapting to different personalities and team dynamics.
- Experience in graphic design, video editing, and social media planning to support high-level strategies.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and trends in the social media landscape.
