We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Burlington, ON as a Senior CAD Drafting & GIS Specialist. Summary : Reporting to the Information Management & Governance Lead, with functional guidance for technical aspects from the Manager, Facilities Reliability and the Manager, Field Services FSE Base Business, the Senior Computer Aided Design (CAD) Drafting & Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist position champions the efficient management of technical drawings & documents. The Senior CAD and GIS Specialist – Drafting plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management and accessibility of technical drawings and GIS databases. The position is a key driver in the organization’s commitment to maintaining up-to-date and accurate records, such as as-built drawings, essential for the ongoing operations of pipeline and facility systems. As the organization Subject Matter Expert (SME) for technical drawings, documents & GIS processes, the Senior CAD and GIS Specialist is responsible for providing drafting and GIS support to the design and operations of pipeline and facility systems. By coordinating across multiple departments, the Specialist supports the organization by providing expert technical support in maintaining, managing, and developing the GIS and technical documents databases. The Specialist is also responsible for the development, continuous improvement, and implementation of CAD and GIS standards. This includes ensuring that all technical drawings and documents are created, classified, and managed consistently throughout their lifecycle, in strict alignment with Information Management & Governance framework. The role demands a high level of accountability, particularly in ensuring compliance with established standards and contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES List and describe 5-10 key responsibilities that indicate ownership of work, level of role and key decision making required for this position. Each key responsibility should have its own line with a total % of time = 100%. # Description of Key Responsibilities and Key Decision Making % of Time Spent 1 Drafting & Documentation Produce As-Built Drawings : Create accurate as-built drawings based on field mark-ups for mainline utilities (primarily civil drawings) and facilities (including mechanical, electrical, and civil drawings). AutoCAD Management : Maintain and update AutoCAD drawings and crossing data, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Standards Development : Establish and refine guidelines for the review of drawings and technical documents to ensure compliance with engineering standards. Drawing Review : Evaluate drawings for completeness and accuracy, revising as needed or returning them to the owner for further updates. Drafting Log Management : Update and maintain a drafting log, optimizing the use of automated drawings and the technical documents database. Standards Compliance : Develop, maintain, and enforce drafting standards; check drawings to ensure they meet engineering and company standards. 45 2 GIS (Geographic Information System) GIS Data Administration : Administer updates to facility data, condition-based data, and land-based data within the GIS system, ensuring consistency and adherence to metadata requirements. GIS System Updates : Regularly evaluate and update the GIS system with relevant and necessary data, maintaining or modifying existing GIS databases as needed. Field Data Integration : Convert data collected from field operations into the GIS database with precise and accurate spatial locations. Imagery Interpretation : Interpret aerial photography or imagery to validate and update surrounding information. Data Quality Control : Review existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, and completeness, ensuring high-quality documentation. Technical Support : Provide technical support to internal users regarding the maintenance, development, and operation of GIS databases, equipment, or applications. 30 3 Information Request Management Information Request Support : Administer and support information requests from third parties regarding the location of company assets and right-of-way. Document Provision : Supply native, crossing, and PDF files for internal and external drawing requests. Project Scoping Participation : Gather and compile all relevant drawing information and participate in project scoping activities. Drawing Number Assignment : Assign new drawing numbers and revisions, managing the check-in / check-out process for all project-related drawings within the drawing library. Cross-Department Collaboration : Negotiate with project management teams to resolve conflicts related to drawings. Quality Assurance : Perform quality assurance and quality control on completed drawings and designs, ensuring compliance with drafting specifications and standards. Drawing Number Assignment : Assign new drawing numbers and revisions, managing the check-in / check-out process for all project-related drawings within the drawing library. Cross-Department Collaboration : Negotiate with project management teams to resolve conflicts related to drawings. Quality Assurance : Perform quality assurance and quality control on completed drawings and designs, ensuring compliance with drafting specifications and standards. Lifecycle Management : Create, execute, and monitor drawings based on procedure compliance throughout their entire lifecycle. Third-Party Coordination : Provide direction and guidance to third-party engineering and drafting service providers, managing concurrent engineering tasks. 10 4 Document Management & Filing Document Management : Supports the management of documents related to engineering drawings, utility crossings, locates, and engineering projects. Drawing Log Maintenance : Manages the document / drawing number log according to company document numbering standards. 5 5 Liaison Responsibilities Internal Collaboration : Works closely with internal department such as Engineering & Integrity, Field Services, Land and EHS&S to ensure their information is accurately captured on drawings and GIS records. External Collaboration : Collaborates with external agencies, including consultants, contractors, and government bodies to ensure their requirements are fully met. 5 6 Professional Responsibility Regulatory Compliance : Stays up-to-date with relevant codes, standards and regulations, recommending improvements where necessary. Continuous improvement : Provide recommendations to management for improving drafting, GIS processes and the management of drawings & technical documents. Ongoing Learning : Engage in job-related training to maintain and enhance professional skills. 5 Total (
