freelance.caRichmond Hill, CanadaJob Title : Audit Manager We are looking for an experienced Audit Manager with a solid foundation with Taxto join our team. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience working in a Canadian CPA firm, demonstrating expertise in both audit and tax services. This role requires a proven track record of managing client relationships and projects. As a Manager, you will lead audit engagements, oversee tax compliance, and support the growth and development of junior staff. This is an in-office position based in Richmond Hill. Key Responsibilities :
Lead and manage audit and review engagements for both for-profit and not-for-profit clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with professional standards.
Supervise and complete tax-related tasks, including preparing and reviewing personal and corporate tax returns, GST / HST filings, and other related documents.
Manage compilation engagements, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and tax filings.
Oversee the preparation of payroll-related documents, including T4 and T5 filings, and ensure compliance with government remittances.
Act as the main point of contact with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on behalf of clients for tax-related matters.
Lead client meetings, build and maintain strong client relationships, and ensure high-quality service is delivered to meet client needs.
Review and analyze work papers, financial statements, and tax returns to ensure compliance with Canadian accounting and tax standards.
Mentor and guide junior staff by providing training, feedback, and development opportunities related to audit and tax functions.
Utilize accounting software, such as Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office, to efficiently manage tasks and engagements.
Identify and recommend process improvements within the audit and tax functions.
Oversee project timelines and budgets, ensuring successful and timely completion of engagements.
Keep up-to-date with industry trends, tax regulations, and best practices to continually enhance your professional knowledge. Skills and Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or a related field) from an accredited institution.
7+ years of experience in public accounting in Canada, with a strong focus on audit and tax services.
7+ years of experience in a Canadian public accounting firm, with a focus on both audit and tax services.
Extensive experience in managing and completing audit and review engagements for a variety of clients, including both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
Proficiency in preparing personal and corporate tax returns, GST / HST filings, and payroll remittances.
Expertise in accounting and tax software, including Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office.
Strong knowledge of Canadian tax and accounting regulations, including CRA compliance.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a team and build client relationships.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
A valid CPA designation (or progress towards certification) is required.
