Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Designer with our well reputed client in retail fixtures and instore displays manufacturing industry, located in Vaughan, ON. The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for technical drawing, machine design, mechanical engineering, computer-aided design (CAD), and research and development (R&D) tasks.
Responsibilities :
- Design and Engineering : Conceptualize and create design solutions to serve the needs of existing clients, new business relationships, and RFP submissions. Create detailed production drawings for the manufacturing, assembly, and installation of retail store fixtures and POP displays.
- Documentation : Produce and manage required documentation for internal departments to secure approvals, quotes, and facilitate production.
- Revision Management : Ensure all revisions and corrections are accurately updated in the model and that all documents remain organized and current throughout and after the production cycle.
- Communication : Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal departments. Leading and collaborating with team members in developing the best designs and solutions to ensure the design intent is maintained and evaluate the feasibility of concepts by considering practicality, budget, and production cost / methods.
Qualifications :
Experience : Minimum of 8-10 years in mechanical design and detailing, specifically with in-store retail fixtures and POP displays. 2+ years of design leadership experience is preferred.Education : Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Design. Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.Software Proficiency : Strong proficiency in Solidworks, Keyshot, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign). Review conceptual designs and inform the build process through sketches, detailing, and CAD drawings.Material and Process Knowledge : Comprehensive understanding of materials and production processes relevant to store fixtures and POP displays. Strong technical understanding of various manufacturing processes and the ability to read and interpret technical documents such as design briefs, safety rules, and procedure manuals.Sheet-metal Expertise : Extensive experience in sheet metal design, plastic part, and millwork design practices.Skills :
Ambitious Self-Starter : Demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects forward.Pressure Management : Capable of working under pressure and meeting critical timelines.Comprehension of Technical Documents : Proficient in understanding architectural drawings, technical specifications, and scope of work documents.Priority Management : Competent in managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines efficiently.Salary : CAD $75K+, depending on experience
