Our client, is a leading provider of reinsurance solutions for a specialized industry, specializing in risk management and financial protection for insurance companies. They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AVP / VP of Reinsurance to join their team.
Mandate
As the AVP / VP of Reinsurance you will play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term direction and success of our client’s broker distribution channel and treaty underwriting functions. Reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer, the role liaises between their customer partners, reinsurance brokers and reinsurers and has responsibility for the collection of ceded reinsurance renewal data.
This position requires regular travel and relationship management, particularly for business underwritten outside of Canada.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have the following :
Education :
An undergraduate degree
A Postgraduate degree (e.g., Master's degree, MBA) would be an asset
Experience :
You have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the Underwriting field, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
Competencies and Attributes :
- In-depth knowledge of reinsurance contracts, Broker Distribution Channels, and industry best practices
- You have completed your CIP / FCIP designation
- You have an exceptional ability to influence and negotiate with internal business partners and external partners.
- You have a continuous learning mindset to stay updated on industry trends, and best practices.
- You possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to develop deep-rooted relationships, influence change and exhibit a collaborative leadership style.
- You have a track record of experienced and successful leadership of others, including formal training, professional development and performance management.
- You have led a company’s reinsurance committee and contributed to the strategy, structure, and placement of core business reinsurance protection.
- You have managed reinsurance risks and operational risks associated with the placement of core-business reinsurance arrangements.
