POSITION SUMMARY

  • Transaction Management :
  • Manage the buying and selling transactions of softwood lumber and panels.
  • Research and analyze lumber trading regulations, trends, and opportunities to inform decision-making.
  • Inspect softwood lumber and panels to determine grade quality.
  • Inventory Oversight :
  • Oversee wood and panel inventories across Stella-Jones plants and distribution centers, ensuring stock levels meet operational and customer needs.
  • Monitor and report on inventory trends to optimize turnover and minimize waste.
  • Handle all accessories
  • Relationship Building :
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Canadian buying groups such as Rona, BMR, and Home Hardware.
  • Actively build and sustain relationships with existing and prospective customers to drive sales growth.
  • Market Expertise :
  • Stay informed about market regulations, pricing trends, and emerging opportunities to maintain Stella-Jones’ competitive edge.
  • Represent Stella-Jones at industry events to expand professional networks and promote the company.
  • Additional Responsibilities :
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the lumber trading operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-2 years of experience in buying / selling softwood lumber. Knowledgeable in the soft lumber trade.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Bilingual (English & French).
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills : Exceptional ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Negotiation Skills : Confidence and strategy in securing favorable terms.
  • Analytical Thinking : Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professionalism : Upholds business ethics and integrity.
  • Time Management : Capable of meeting deadlines and managing stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork and Independence : Works effectively as part of a team while also excelling independently.
  • Computer Proficiency : Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
