We invite applications for the position of :
Purchasing Assistant
Under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Assistant process purchase requests, prepare tenders, maintain the Central Stores inventory, order supplies, oversee the sales of surplus equipment / materials, respond to inquiries, and perform clerical duties.
Specific duties and responsibilities include :
- process and monitor Surplus Inventory Sales of equipment / material;
- maintain Central Stores inventory records and monitor all stock inventories;
- monitor inventory reports, locate and correct problems with inventory cost averaging;
- process inventory reports for yearly audit;
- monitor and adjust various general ledger accounts associated with inventory;
- prepare and issue purchase orders following current procedures and policy;
- prepare and execute agreements / contracts as required;
- monitor, process, and maintain Visa Card applications, changes and cancellations;
- purchase office supplies for Operations Department;
- prepare and monitor a variety of reports using Sparkrock;
- perform word processing duties to prepare a variety of correspondence and to complete Purchase Orders, Stock Requisitions and tenders, etc.
- communicate with staff to provide information on purchasing practices and District policy;
- respond to general inquiries.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications :

This is full time continuing position starting as soon as possible, working 35 hours per week at a wage rate of $28.80 per hour, plus a comprehensive employee benefit package including extended health and dental coverage, short term and long-term disability insurance and participation in a defined benefit pension plan.
