Tasks

  • Ensuring the update and compliance of operational documents related to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), including standards, laws, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Conducting audits, making recommendations, implementing preventive or corrective measures, and monitoring their application.
  • Participating in incident investigations, leading investigation teams, and overseeing the process.
  • Communicating improvement ideas and OHS-related issues to the management team.
  • Contributing to the annual evaluation of OHS management systems.
  • Monitoring operations on operational unit sites and vessels.
  • Identifying hazards and assess risks related to activities.
  • Participating in various committees and task forces.
  • Monitoring employee and supervisor OHS training.
  • Coordinating employee OHS training with team leaders.
  • Preparing necessary documentation to ensure active compliance with rules.
  • Analyzing trends in OHS-related incidents by identifying causes and implementing preventive measures.
  • Acting as a driver for change within the operational unit.
  • Performing any other related tasks.

Job requirements

  • DCS in Occupational Health and Safety Management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as an OHS generalist.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Fully bilingual, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations related to occupational health and safety (COHSR, Canadian Labour Code, and other federal laws).
  • Experience in the maritime or cargo transport industry is a great asset.
  • Availability to travel for 1 to 2 weeks during busy periods (approximately 3-4 trips per year).
