Salary: $3500 for 7 weeks of camp (inclusive of meals and lodging)

About Camp Quin-Mo-Lac:

Quin-Mo-Lac is a residential overnight camp for co-ed campers aged 7-14 years old, located on Moira Lake (halfway between Madoc and Tweed, north of Belleville). QML has 240 acres of land, mostly woods with some fields. We have 2 kms of shoreline and an island that we also use for programming. Our programs include crafts, music, canoeing, high ropes, low ropes, archery, orienteering, initiatives, swimming, rock climbing, hiking and overnights. Our campers stay for 1 week in either cabins or our lodge with a group of similar-aged peers and 3-4 counsellors.

Work begins for our staff with a staff training on the first weekend of May and then a full staff orientation and training week that occurs June 26- June 30th. Staff spend camp weeks onsite and are housed in a staff cabin. Our staff come from all over Ontario (and beyond) and most return year after year.

Camp Dates:

Co-ed 1: June 30- July 4

Co-ed 2: July 4- July 11

Co-ed 3: July 15- July 22

Co-ed 4: July 22- July 29

Co-ed 5: Aug 1 – Aug 8

Co-ed 6: Aug 8 – Aug 15

Co-ed 7: Aug 18- Aug 25

Position Summary:

The Food Tripper will report to the Kitchen Supervisor, or Summer Camp Director and is responsible for the safe preparation and handling of food for cookouts and overnight tripping. This position is also responsible for the organizing and preparation of special foods with dietary restrictions and food allergies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • To work cooperatively & constructively in the kitchen taking the lead as outlined in their job description.
  • To keep the standard of quality high with good food, enough food & food on time.
  • To organize all foods for overnights and cook outs throughout the summer
  • To have ensure that campers/staff are aware of allergens on the menu and help prepare substitute foods as needed
  • To greet parents dropping off substitute foods on registration day and ensure items are identified and stored appropriately
  • To maintain a clean kitchen, dress code and equipment in accordance with the Dept. of Health.
  • To see that safety is constantly on the minds of the workers and that the Kitchen Supervisor/Summer Camp Director is informed of any safety concerns with equipment or personnel.
  • To make sure the ‘Daily Audit’ of the tripping area of the kitchen is completed
  • To keep an on-going inventory of supplies ordered and on hand.
  • To participate in the overall camp program.
  • To ensure that the kitchen is maintained as a professional food prep and delivery site and make staff aware of expectations in respect to their use of the kitchen and food prep areas
  • To perform other duties as may be assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor/Summer Camp Director or designate.
  • To make a summer/year-end written inventory of food.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or turning 18 years during 2026
  • Must have a department. of Health or ‘In Good Hands’ Food Handler’s Certificate
