Job description

Mon Sheong Foundation has been awarded 576 new long-term care bed licences by the Ministry of Long-Term Care, including 320 beds for a new care centre in Whitchurch-Stouffville and 256 beds for a new care centre in Markham.

“We sincerely thank the Ontario government for its trust in Mon Sheong,” said Mon Sheong Foundation Chairman Tim Kwan. “This represents a significant commitment, not only to our organization but also to the community as a whole. Building a new long-term care home is no small undertaking and comes with many challenges and complexity. The allocation of new bed licences marks only the first step, as we must continue working closely with the provincial and municipal governments for the required approvals. We are deeply grateful to the Ontario government, as well as the City of Markham and the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, for their continued support and confidence, which enable us to move forward with planning new care homes so that more people in need can receive timely and appropriate care.”

“Our current focus is on the two new long-term care homes under construction. The new Markham centre is in its final phase and targeted for completion by mid-2026, providing 320 beds. Work has also begun on our second long-term care centre in Richmond Hill, which is expected to be completed by end of 2027, bringing 288 new care beds to the community when finished,” said Stephanie Wong, Chief Executive Officer.
