CPG Early Career Development Program - Architecture

Canada

Job Description

Salary Range : $60,000.00- $68,000.00

Recognized as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2025, Metrolinx has welcomed 170 students and recent graduates into our early talent programs, helping our young people build their professional network and develop their critical skills. Our early talent programs provide youth with opportunities to make a big impact and play a role in building a sustainable, safe, and integrated transit network.

Being a part of a once-in-a-generation transit expansion means being part of something bigger than ourselves, and it’s our people who are making it happen. Join us as we continue to create, build and impact our communities that will serve not only our generation, but generations to come.

What is Metrolinx’s Early Career Development Program?

As of 2024, Metrolinx’s Capital Projects Group (CPG) has launched an Early Career Development Program for recent graduates who have completed their post-secondary education in Engineering, Architecture, or Urban Planning Studies within the last two years.

Our Capital Projects Group workforce is made up of driven and dedicated professionals who care deeply about working together to deliver infrastructure and make a positive impact in our communities.

Program participants will join us as permanent, full-time employees to complete four 12-month rotations within CPG divisions (Rapid Transit, GO & UP) for structured, professional development, mentorship, and networking. Participants benefit from experience in various teams, working through the Metrolinx project lifecycle, enabling the development of skills and capabilities to effectively lead large scale transit-related projects.

Participants interested in pursuing their professional designations and / or PMP accreditation will have the opportunity to gain professional experience and be fast-tracked to a Project Manager role within CPG upon completion of the rotational program.

Why Metrolinx?

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Competitive benefits plan.
  • Robust onboarding program.
  • A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Accelerated development through on-the-job training, MX University, LinkedIn Learning, CPG learning, and mentorship programs.
  • Support for obtaining professional designations.
  • Learning and development reimbursement for external training / professional designations.

What will I be doing?

  • Work with interdisciplinary teams of engineers and other professionals on design, construction, risk scheduling, and commercial activities as they relate to capital projects.

  • Analyze results and develop recommendations to support departmental projects and future initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, briefing notes, presentations, and / or other supporting documents such as spreadsheets and charts / graphics / maps for Project progress monitoring.
  • Analyze data and contribute to the content, design, production, and distribution of reports.
  • Participate in team meetings, provide relevant analytical data, and provide information that will be useful to senior staff in their decision-making process.
  • Learn to use industry software and equipment to complete project tasks.
  • Observe existing strategies and techniques to offer suggestions for improvement.
  • What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Must have graduated from a post-secondary program in Architecture studies or Architecture Science within the last 2 years (no earlier than June 2024), or will be graduating as of June 2026.

  • Interpersonal, and oral / written skills to communicate effectively with employees, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Time management and organizational skills in meeting multiple / concurrent deadlines and work effectively in an agile environment.
