About the Surgical Clinical Resource Team :

The Clinical Resource Team (CRT) plays a vital role in the provision of nursing services to a wide range of patient populations across the acute surgical patient care programs at Vancouver General Hospital.

It is comprised of LPNs whose shifts are assigned to a variety of clinical units to meet appropriate staffing requirements and organizational needs as they arise.

CRT staff are valued members of VCH and respond to needs based on patient acuity, replacement for vacancies and other operational needs.

Members of the CRT perform a full range of professional duties and provide high quality care to patients. All new CRT team members are set up for success and go through an on-site orientation program, led by experienced health care professionals and educators.

The CRT provides opportunities to grow your skills and expertise and prides itself on growing and mentoring our nurses.

As an LPN at Vancouver Coastal Health you will :

  • Work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team, perform full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and documente client care, and provide support to clients and their families.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Maintain and advance clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per the current Public Health Orders, as of October 5, 2023, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received a single dose of the most-recent, updated COVID-19 vaccine.

Proof of vaccination status will be required.
