The opportunity
Our Credit Analysts apply proven skills in credit writing, financial statement analysis, loan structuring, risk management and communications to provide outstanding service and responsiveness within the key business line functions of credit underwriting, loan applications, recurring credit review processes and administration.
This is an important role in delivering effective risk-based loan pricing and profitability management. These credit gurus act as subject matter experts providing guidance and support to credit associates and support teams, improving the development of our credit capabilities.
Day to day activities
Client engagement. Credit underwriting. Risk management . Learning.
Analyze and discuss terms and conditions of credit applications and related matters with key collaborators, as required.
Ensure risk-taking is within acceptable parameters of CWB’s lending practices, policies, and procedures.
Recommend appropriate credit structures and assist with analysis and writing of complex credit submissions and reviews.
Approve credit applications (new, renewal and reportable) within a delegated credit limit, as applicable.
Prepare recommendations for approval, restructuring, or deferral of loan requests.
Assist with account and portfolio assessments to help identify and mitigate potential impacts of negative performance trends.
Accountable to ensure compliance with various first-line risk management functions, workflows, and policies, including requirements for loan management, data integrity, portfolio quality, exposure limits and fulfillment of loan security and approval requirements.
Support key collaborators with requirements to maintain satisfactory internal audit reports.
Ensure adherence to the Bank’s credit administration and security guidelines and protocols.
Ensure all assigned month-end and other reports are accurate and complete, as applicable.
Ensure required reports and financial data are received and analyzed promptly in line with loan commitments.
Assist with management and / or administration of high risk and / or watch accounts, as applicable.
Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of all customer information consistent with internal policies and procedures, and federal rules and regulations.
Foundational knowledge and experience to grow from
Financial and marketing knowledge of local markets and national economies built on a foundation of formal education ( business degree ) and real-life experience ( 3+ years of financial services experience in risk management, banking, or business lending preferably in equipment financing and leasing).
Solid credit adjudication experience supported by honed skills in assessing financial documents and deep knowledge base of effective risk mitigation strategies for credit underwriting with a knowledge of collateral security and documentation requirements.

Financial expertise. You have garnered credit underwriting experience that has allowed you to plan, implement and mitigate risk on a portfolio of clients.
You have solid comprehension of equipment financing and leasing and a general understanding of collateral security and documentation requirements.

Technologically proficient. You are adept at learning new software that you will use on a day-to-day basis. You have mastered MS Office, especially Excel and a solid understanding of Temenos / T24 and WAVE is an asset.
