House & Home Media is Canada’s leading independent media company, specializing in home and lifestyle content. We have an immediate opening for a full-time Managing Editor at Canadian House & Home magazine in our midtown Toronto office. The ideal candidate will be a creative, talented magazine professional with great organization skills and a keen eye for detail, as well as a passion for editing and writing. An appreciation for the House & Home brand, and an interest in home design and lifestyle trends are a must. If you’re a proactive collaborator who would like to lead the workflow for each magazine issue, as well as edit, write and produce winning interior design content, this is an opportunity for you.

Qualifications

• Post‑secondary education in English, Communications or Journalism, and three to five years of experience working in a magazine / newspaper environment
• Excellent writing and substantive, stylistic and copy editing skills, and an eye for detail
• Proficient in Canadian Press Style
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills; must have great attention to detail and be able to prioritize assignments and multi‑task under tight deadlines
• Proven problem‑solving skills and an ability to learn and adapt in changing environments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe InCopy / InDesign and WordPress on a Mac platform
• Knowledge of the Canadian home design and decorating landscape and its key players

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000–$75,000 per year, depending on skills and experience, plus additional group benefits.
