Role : Manager of Child Care Inclusion and Belonging - Northern Interior / Northwest

Wage : $58,240.00 $64,480.00 Annual Salary, plus Government Wage Enhancement (currently $6.00 / hour for fully certified Early Childhood Educators)

Benefits : YMCA membership, paid sick days for yourself and family, 8% vacation pay (includes scheduled operational closures), paid training, full benefits package, 5% employer-matched pension, education and career advancement opportunities

Hours : Full-Time, 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday

Location : Various Centres in the Northern Interior / Northwest Region, while maintaining an office in Prince George at the Highland Family Development Centre.

YMCA BC provides services in health, fitness & aquatics, child care, camping, employment & community services to over 150,000 participants annually.

Responsibilities of this role :

  • Provide leadership and support to child care centers on inclusion-related matters like care plans and program modifications.
  • Coach and mentor educators to improve outcomes for children in School Age and Early Years programs.
  • Build relationships with children through regular program visits, adjusting care plans as needed.
  • Conduct intake interviews and develop care plans for children with diverse abilities in collaboration with families and staff.
  • Observe, evaluate, and support children, organizing wraparound meetings with educators and specialists.
  • Ensure staff are trained and equipped to meet children's needs and source ongoing training opportunities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date tracking system for care plans and host annual reviews.
  • Act as a mentor & trainer, promoting staff development on relevant curricula and best practices.
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for new staff, overseeing onboarding and training.
  • Provide vacation coverage in program for other managers to support work-life balance within the team.
  • Regular travel required within the Northern Interior / Northwest Region

Qualifications :

  • BC ECE Degree or Diploma or combination of ECE and experience
  • 3 years’ leadership experience in child care and child development preferred
  • Current child care First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Can provide a satisfactory Ministry CRC and 3 professional references
  • Reliable transportation within the Northern Interior / Northwest Region
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing care plans for children with diverse abilities.
  • Proficient in observing, documenting, and adjusting care strategies using data.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience providing training on inclusion and child development.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in using technology systems like tracking tools and emails.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staff development.
  • Team player with flexibility to adapt to changing roles and circumstances.
