The Liquor Store Supervisor is responsible to ensure customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to Company policies, procedures and standards.
The Liquor Store Supervisor reports directly to the Liquor Store Manager and provides direction & supervision to the Liquor Store Clerk / Cashiers.
The primary responsibilities include;
Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of questions, comments and complaints.
Effectively works in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
Plans and performs all aspects of Liquor functions including but not limited to; stocking and facing in an efficient and organized manner.
Ensures display presentation and proper stock levels are maintained.
Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns, provides substitutions and ensures price integrity including price changes.
Performs general clean up duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure a neat and organized store is maintained.
Responsible for ensuring the sales floor and back stock area are clean of cardboard and debris including disposal of garbage.
Performs duties following established Occupational Health and Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all Employees and customers.
Promotes the prevention of robbery and violence in the workplace.
Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools; and reports repair requirements to Liquor Store Manager.
Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
Responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing / verifying and authorizing appropriate invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
Responsible for organizing and conducting inventory.
Provides supervision / direction to Employees in the Liquor Store in the following areas :
Ensures daily functions are carried out in an organized and efficient manner.
Ensures health and safety rules and regulations are adhered to.
Technical training with day-to-day instruction, including orientation.
Application of effective customer service techniques.
Participates in program implementation.
Provides administrative support to the Liquor Manager in the following areas :
Participates in performance management of subordinates including verbal coaching, written work record documentation and preparation and delivery of performance reviews.
Manager must be present for appraisals if ratings are below average or outstanding.
Assists Management in identifying high-potential employees.
Ensures subordinates are trained and possess the necessary skills, ability and experience required to perform quality work and meet the standards established by the Company.
Replaces shifts and authorizes appropriate documents.
Develops and maintains schedules, including inputting and editing as required with Management approval.
Participates in the development of work plans, yearly budgets and leading meetings.
Participates in interviews as required (with the exception of peers) and provides other administrative support such as preparation of letters of offer, staffing requests and budget information etc.
Reports any Policy and Procedure issues to the Liquor Manager.
Performs and follows all aspects of cash handling Policies and Procedures.
Responsible for running sales reports as required.
Performs all aspects of HQ, P.O.S., and Electronic Price Verification functions.
Adheres to all rules and regulations as set out by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.
Opens and closes Liquor Store, completes daily reports and is responsible for selling memberships.
Performs all aspects of opening and closing duties including cashing functions, counting and balancing tills, ensuring the accurate processing of cash media (i.
e. cash, charges, debit cards, etc.) according to company requirements. Additional duties include but are not limited to, security system checks, mail sorting and deposits.
Verifies accuracy of all signs and tickets in the Liquor Store, including conducting quarterly audits, ensuring Not In Files (NIF’s) and deleted items are handled in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Responsible for updating tickets and signs from G-Day and email. Ensures all price tickets and signs are created, sorted and placed on the shelves prior to store opening each day as required.
Provides direction to contractors as required.
What skills and abilities will you need to be considered?
Must be 18 years of age
Grade 12 education or acceptable combination of education and experience
Previous liquor experience with strong product knowledge or equivalent supervisory experience
Basic receiving, ordering and merchandising skills
Basic Word, Excel and Outlook

Experience in supervising others, planning, ordering, and organizing events, projects and programs
Six (6) months of liquor retail experience with strong product knowledge and knowledge of provincial liquor regulations or equivalent retail experience

Passion and knowledge of wines, wine regions, and wine production
