Job description

Our Ontario based client is seeking an experienced SAP Data Governance Director to join their team on a full time permanent basis. The ideal candidate should have 12+ years of progressive experience across Data Management, Data Platforms, Master Data Management, or Enterprise Information Management, including 5+ years leading data platform or MDM organizations, along with deep expertise in SAP Master Data structures and business processes, along with hands-on experience implementing and operating SAP MDG and/or Simple MDG. This will be a hybrid role with the exact amount of on-site scheduled days to be confirmed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the implementation, integration, controls, security, scalability, and operational reliability of the governance tooling ecosystem, including SimpleMDG, metadata and catalog solutions, lineage tools, data quality monitoring, automation, bots, agents, and related platform services.
  • Establish, operate, and continuously improve DT governance standards for the Enterprise Data Platform, ensuring that data products are created and consumed using certified EDP tables where available.
  • Define platform-level controls, metadata, lineage, traceability, catalog, and data product governance expectations for EDP assets and consumption layers.
  • Partner with Business Data Governance and DT delivery teams to embed certified data consumption, lineage, controls, and governance checkpoints into delivery standards and ways of working.
  • Work with Technology Architects to ensure proper data flow, integration patterns, certified consumption paths, lineage, and traceability across the Enterprise Data Platform.
  • Ensure governance tools are connected appropriately across SAP, EDP, downstream platforms, workflows, and consumption layers so that business-approved governance decisions can be executed consistently.
  • Maintain clear ownership boundaries by enabling business-led configuration decisions while ensuring the technical design, integration, access, auditability, and sustainability of the tools.
  • Support business-led master data governance model by ensuring master data capabilities are technically enabled, integrated, secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and data platform standards.
  • Ensure governed and certified master data can be integrated, exposed, monitored, and consumed appropriately across SAP, SimpleMDG, EDP, downstream enterprise applications, and certified data products.
  • Maintain lineage, traceability, metadata, issue visibility, platform controls, and certified consumption paths for master data from source systems through EDP and downstream usage.
  • Enable data quality monitoring, profiling, dashboards, scorecards, preventative controls, and issue visibility across EDP and related governance tooling.
  • Ensure business-defined rules, thresholds, and quality expectations can be technically implemented, measured, and monitored across platforms and consumption layers.
  • Partner with BT Data Governance, business stewards, Data Product Owners, and DT teams to support root-cause analysis, remediation tracking, and continuous improvement of data quality controls.
  • Establish and operate technical metadata, catalog, lineage, discovery, classification, and transparency capabilities for EDP and related data assets.
  • Ensure BT-owned business definitions, glossary content, critical data elements, and certification decisions are made visible and usable through platform tools, catalogs, workflows, and data products.
  • Work with Technology Architects and EDP teams to maintain end-to-end lineage and traceability from source systems through certified EDP tables, data products, and consumption layers.
  • Operate technical lifecycle, data archiving governance, retention, archival, disposition, and compliance controls for EDP and related data platforms in alignment with enterprise policy, legal, regulatory, audit, and information governance requirements.
  • Ensure enterprise data remains manageable, controlled, compliant, traceable, and cost-efficient throughout its lifecycle, including active use, retention, archiving, and disposition across platform and consumption layers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enterprise Data Platform governance, including certified data assets, governed consumption layers, platform standards, controls, and auditability.
  • Data product and certified consumption governance, including ownership visibility, certification practices, guardrails, and governance checkpoints across data products and analytics use cases.
  • Metadata, catalog, lineage, and data intelligence capabilities, including traceability, classification, discovery, and transparency across source systems, EDP, data products, and consumption layers.
  • Data quality monitoring and control frameworks, including profiling, dashboards, scorecards, preventative controls, issue visibility, and remediation tracking.
  • SAP, SimpleMDG/SAP MDG, and master data platform enablement, including integration across SAP, EDP, enterprise applications, analytics platforms, and downstream consumption layers.
  • Enterprise integration and lifecycle governance, including source-to-consumption data flows, integration patterns, retention, archiving, compliance, and platform controls.
  • Governance-enabling tooling and enterprise transformation, including workflow automation, bots, agents, metadata/catalog tools, lineage tools, data quality platforms, ERP transformation, and enterprise-scale data platform change.
  • Critical enterprise data domains and operating models, including supply chain, customer, commercial, and other core data domains, with clear distinction between business-owned governance decisions and DT-owned platform enablement.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Supply Chain, or related discipline.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
