The successful candidate will combine strong analytical and problem-framing skills with hands-on expertise in modern data platforms, while also owning the integrity, governance, and stewardship of key commercial data sources and external market cross-references. This role is well suited to someone who can navigate complex datasets, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and help advance the organization’s analytical capabilities.
COMPANY:
Founded over 175 years ago, Labatt is one of Canada’s founding businesses and its leading brewer. We are proud of our history and our heritage in Canada, and we remain committed to brewing great-tasting, high-quality beers that have satisfied beer drinkers for generations. Labatt has created exciting experiences with consumers through iconic brands like Budweiser, Bud Light, NÜTRL, Michelob Ultra, Corona, Stella Artois and many more. Through our broad portfolio, we are truly a national brewer, with over 3,600 employees, a portfolio of more than 60 quality beers and beyond, and 10 breweries from coast-to-coast, we are proud to serve Canada and the communities we call home.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with sales, commercial, and regional leaders to identify high-impact business questions and translate them into well-defined analytical and data science use cases.
- Explore large, complex datasets to uncover patterns, quantify business drivers, and generate actionable recommendations for Western Canadian markets.
- Collaborate with data engineering and technology partners to define data requirements, improve data quality, and ensure reliable datasets are available for modelling and advanced analytics.
- Own the integrity, governance, and ongoing stewardship of Western Canadian commercial data sources and reporting inputs, including the development and maintenance of external market cross-references that enable consistent, reliable analysis.
- Act as a subject matter expert on commercial data and analytics, helping stakeholders understand and adopt data science, AI, and advanced analytical approaches.
- Stay current with developments in machine learning, generative AI, and the consumer-packaged goods sector, and assess their practical application to commercial priorities
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years of experience applying data analytics and reporting, statistical modelling, machine learning, or data science methods to business problems.
- Proficiency in Python or R and SQL, with experience working in modern data platforms such as Databricks.
- Experience working with large, imperfect, and multi-source datasets and converting them into analysis-ready data.
- Ability to connect analytical methods to business outcomes and communicate complex findings, assumptions, and limitations to non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-framing skills, intellectual curiosity, and comfort working through ambiguous business questions.
- Experience developing analytical products, prototypes, or proof-of-value solutions in partnership with business and technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with generative AI, responsible AI practices, and the application of AI-enabled tools to analytics workflows is an asset.
- Experience in consumer-packaged goods, retail, sales analytics, or commercial strategy is considered an asset.
