Description:

Course number and title: ARC3412HS – Selected Topics in Architecture. Elective - stream/number to be decided

Course description: This course explores digital fabrication as a means of architectural design and production. Students will investigate the relationships between computational design, material systems, fabrication processes, and assembly, using digital tools to develop and produce architectural prototypes and artifacts. Through a combination of design experimentation, digital modeling, and hands-on fabrication, the course examines how fabrication technologies can inform architectural form, material expression, and construction. Emphasis is placed on iterative making, material research, and the translation of digital processes into physical outcomes.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2027 - April 30, 2027

Class Schedule: FR 15:00-18:00


Salary:

  • Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.48
  • Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.22
  • Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96
  • Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $11,228.90

All inclusive of vacation pay;

Minimum Qualifications: M.Arch degree or B.Arch degree in Architecture preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: Academic and professional expertise in digital fabrication.

Description of duties: Attending meetings required by program director; preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions and student contact hours.
