ServiceNow Technical Consultant - ITOM, Service Mapping

Our client, is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented ServiceNow Technical Consultant specializing in Service Mapping and ITOM to join their core enterprise platform engineering team.

In this senior technical role, you will be directly responsible for translating approved solution designs into scalable, maintainable ServiceNow implementations, with a primary focus on tag-based service mapping, CMDB governance, and ITOM capabilities. Working closely with project leadership, CMDB owners, cloud infrastructure teams, and process leads, you will drive initiatives to significantly enhance service visibility, data quality, and operational governance across cloud and hybrid infrastructure landscapes. This position is ideal for a senior platform specialist who combines deep hands-on ServiceNow development expertise (JavaScript, Glide APIs, Flow Designer) with an absolute command of CSDM-aligned CMDB architecture.

Responsibilities
Service Mapping & CMDB Governance
Tag-Based Mapping Architecture: Design, build, and support tag-based and attribute-based service mapping solutions and CMDB governance frameworks.

Data Quality & Lifecycle Management: Improve CMDB data quality, CI relationships, lifecycle data accuracy, and governance reporting aligned with Common Service Data Model (CSDM) standards.

Migration & Retirement Workflows: Support workflows, catalog processes, and CSDM-aligned lifecycle migrations for tag management and legacy asset retirement.

ITOM Configuration & Technical Execution
Platform Integration & Discovery: Configure, optimize, and support MID Servers, Discovery patterns, Service Mapping rules, Service Graph Connectors, and CMDB Health dashboards.

Platform Development: Write clean, maintainable platform configurations and customizations using JavaScript, Glide APIs, and Flow Designer.

Troubleshooting & Remediation: Diagnose and resolve complex Discovery, Service Mapping, integration, workflow, and identification/reconciliation rule issues.

Technical Artifacts & Handoff: Produce high-quality technical designs, test evidence, deployment plans, and operational knowledge-transfer runbooks for smooth operational handoff.



Qualifications
ServiceNow Experience: 5+ years of hands-on technical development experience on the ServiceNow platform.

ITOM & CMDB Specialization: 3+ years specifically focused on ServiceNow ITOM (Discovery & Service Mapping), CMDB architecture, CSDM frameworks, and CMDB governance.

Tag-Based Mapping Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience designing and implementing tag-based or attribute-based service mapping models.

Infrastructure & Integration Literacy: Solid understanding of multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP), containers (OpenShift, Kubernetes), databases, MID Server architectures, and Service Graph Connectors.

Scripting & Development: Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Glide APIs, Flow Designer, and REST/SOAP integrations.

Required Certifications:

ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or equivalent demonstrated experience.

ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) and/or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in Discovery, Service Mapping, CMDB/Data Foundations, Event Management, or related ITOM tracks.

Preferred Assets & Nice-to-Haves
Experience working within government, highly regulated, or large-scale enterprise environments.

Familiarity with cybersecurity integrations, vulnerability response, change impact analysis, and service ownership use cases.
