You will lead efforts in securing exemptions and certifications (e.g., FAA Section 44807, Transport Canada SFOCs), managing legal filings, and providing internal training on drone-related regulatory frameworks. This is a critical role for maintaining airworthiness, legal operations, and cross-border expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain UAS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), flight manuals, and safety protocols in compliance with U.S. and Canadian regulations
  • Serve as ZenaTech’s primary liaison with FAA and Transport Canada officials
  • Assist in responding to audits, inquiries, and investigations from aviation authorities
  • Train internal staff on airspace rules, pilot certification requirements, and recordkeeping policies
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, including operating manuals, aircraft registration records, and compliance reports

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aeronautics, Public Policy, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Law, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in UAS, aviation regulatory compliance, or a related legal/policy role
  • Deep working knowledge of:
  • FAA regulations (Part 107-108, 91, 137, 44807 exemption process)
  • Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Transport Canada SFOC framework
  • Experience submitting FAA or Transport Canada exemption applications or waivers
  • Strong writing skills for technical and regulatory documents
  • FAA Part 107-108 Remote Pilot Certificate or Canadian Basic/Advanced RPAS certificate
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with heavy-lift, agricultural, or autonomous drone systems
  • Familiarity with ASTM, SORA, or SMS risk assessment frameworks
