Job description

Join to apply for the Human Resources Business Partner role at Brickeye

Brickeye leverages the power of data from construction to drive risk mitigation and productivity gains. We are a fast-growing construction technology company developing the world’s most advanced IoT-based risk mitigation platform for water damage mitigation, concrete quality / defect control, and real‑time site intelligence. We protect construction projects from avoidable loss, reduce the total cost of risk, and help asset owners, general contractors, and insurers deliver projects on time and on budget.

The Challenge

Brickeye has achieved remarkable success through capital efficiency, driving rapid revenue growth while maintaining a lean operational footprint. We have been successful doing more with less, and now face a need to grow our team, expand our product innovation, and scale our commercial efforts to capitalize on demand. We are keen to address this bottleneck and invest strategically in our greatest asset: our people. We are now seeking an HR Business Partner who can step in at this critical inflection point to architect our HR strategy.

Your mission will be to recruit top‑tier talent, manage HR operations and ensure they are aligned with our business goals, implement strategic performance management to elevate the output of our existing employees, and ensure our culture scales successfully as we grow. This is a high‑leverage role designed for an individual ready to build and lead organizational change.

  • Identify Talent Gaps: Work closely with hiring managers to determine skill gaps on their teams and assist in effective recruitment strategies.
  • Hire Top Talent: Lead recruitment efforts, including job postings, candidate sourcing, and interview coordination.
  • Lead HR Processes: Lead core HR processes such as performance management, employee engagement, and retention initiatives.
  • Be The Manager’s Coach: Educate and coach managers on employee development and performance management offering expertise in areas such as employee relations, compensation, and organizational development.
  • Guide Learning & Development: Partnering with Managers to understand learning & development needs to enhance training and career development programs.
  • Ensure Great In‑Office Experience: Oversee the in‑office experience and upkeep with support from our Finance & Operations Coordinator.
  • Own The Employee Lifecycle: Work with the team to manage the employee lifecycle experience, including onboarding, offboarding, time/off and leaves.
  • Ensure Legal Compliance: Ensure legal compliance by managing and implementing applicable policy and process revisions, supporting HR employment audits, and completing any required reporting.
  • 3-5 years of experience as an HR Business Partner or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience working in Talent Acquisition.
  • The ability to build, implement, and refine processes.
  • Strong understanding of Employment Standards in Ontario.
  • Good grasp of HRM techniques and excellent people management skills.
  • Familiarly with a variety of HR analytics techniques.
  • Ability to set up and track relevant metrics and KPIs.
  • Strong HR skills, but also a deep understanding of business principles.
  • Previous experience working in the Tech space.
  • Bonus: Any experience in IoT or construction technology.
  • Early adopter: You actively use AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and others) to unlock new possibilities beyond traditional methods. You are energized by how AI enhances what you can achieve.
  • Productivity Multiplier: You view AI as an essential amplifier of innovation and team efficiency—not a substitute for critical thinking or strategic judgment.

High-Impact Mission & Technology

  • Solve a Global Problem: Work on a proprietary platform leveraging construction IoT to directly tackle the $1.5 trillion in annual risk and loss in the built environment.
  • Real-World Impact: See your products and innovation immediately translated into tangible results: boosting productivity and eliminating risk across major global construction projects, including in North America, the Middle East, Australia, and Latin America.
  • The Next Challenge: Shape the future of our platform's evolution, from next‑generation sensor designs to scalable enterprise SaaS features.
  • Impact Over Hierarchy: Thrive in a collaborative, mission‑driven culture where the best, not loudest, ideas win. We value decisive action and ownership.
  • High Autonomy: We trust our experts. You will have a high degree of autonomy to own projects from concept through deployment, directly contributing to our growth.
  • World-Class Team: Learn and grow alongside a team of domain experts who are dedicated to mutual success and professional excellence.

Rewards & Flexibility

  • Competitive Compensation: We offer a competitive base salary, and annual performance incentives.
  • Be an Owner: A robust equity package, making you an owner of Brickeye so that you can share in our success.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Enjoy a truly flexible work environment that prioritizes delivery and results over clock‑watching. We don't mind if you need to run to an appointment in the afternoon or pick up your kid from school.
  • Health Benefits: Competitive medical, and dental benefits.
