Job description

At CI, we see a great place to work as one that is a safe place for everyone to have a voice, where people are empowered to take ownership over meaningful work, where there is an opportunity to grow through stretching themselves, where they can work on innovative products and projects, and where employees are supported and engaged in doing so.

The Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, automating, and managing the corporate network and associated technical infrastructure, including security devices and services. This role also involves monitoring and troubleshooting firewalls, load balancers, wireless systems, switches, and routers across on‑premises data centers and AWS cloud environments.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Design, install, automate, and manage network infrastructure devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, NAC, WAN/LAN systems, wireless access points/controllers, DNS, SSL certificates, and structured cabling.

  • Analyze business requirements to develop scalable and secure technical network solutions and architectural frameworks.

  • Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning, including disaster recovery and contingency strategies.

  • Design, test, inspect, and implement data communications systems and network changes.

  • Deploy and optimize security policies, rulesets, and configurations across NGFWs, SASE platforms, and segmentation technologies to enhance security posture, performance, and operational efficiency.

  • Develop test plans, implementation strategies, and project timelines for network-related initiatives.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex network issues involving multiple variables and distributed environments.

  • Collaborate with technology vendors to support business initiatives and evaluate emerging solutions.

  • Conduct capacity and performance planning, including oversight of production software upgrades.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all network infrastructure and operational procedures.

  • Stay current with modern technologies to guide product direction and network evolution.

  • Serve as an escalation point for the service desk and incident response teams, handling reactive incidents and leading root-cause analysis for problem management.

  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support critical network operations.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Experience

  • 5 years of experience designing, implementing and supporting complex multi-site networks

Education/Training

  • University or College level and/or equivalent applicable IT experience.

  • Network/Security Related Certifications (CCNP, AWS Certified Security / Advanced Networking).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Cisco, Fortinet, and F5 network hardware and software.

  • Good working knowledge of UNIX and Windows operating systems, including systems software and hardware.

  • Deep understanding of MPLS, routing, switching, SD‑WAN, cloud computing, VoIP, and wireless technologies.

  • Proficient with SASE architectures, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and secure remote‑access frameworks.

  • Working knowledge of scripting and automation, including Python, shell scripting, and Ansible.

  • Extensive experience in multi‑cloud networking, particularly AWS, with strong deployment automation skills.

  • Strong understanding of firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and security technologies such as IPS and ISE.

  • Experience designing complex network infrastructures.

  • Experience using ServiceNow platform and working within structured change‑control processes.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with strong troubleshooting skills across all OSI layers (Layer 1–7).
