Consider joining us as a Service Technician if:

You have experience troubleshooting and solving mechanical challenges. You may have worked as an apprentice or mechanic or building furniture or equipment. You are curious, friendly, and empathetic, finding satisfaction in solving problems and helping others. You are comfortable using and working with manual and power tools.

About Motion:

Canadian-owned and operated, Motion is Canada’s leading full-service mobility and accessibility solutions provider and has served communities across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan for more than 40 years through our network of 48 locations. Our knowledgeable and caring team of experts supports individuals and those who care for them by delivering solutions that make life accessible for everyone. Our products include wheelchairs, walkers, mobility scooters, power lift recliners, lifting devices, homecare and adjustable beds, bathroom safety items, and more. Whether our clients are aged 1 or 100, we have products to ensure the independence, mobility, and safety of clients of all ages.

The role:

We are adding a compassionate and knowledgeable Technician to our team in Ontario. This posting is for an existing vacancy. You will be trained on the tools you will be working with and the equipment you will be repairing. You will work directly with clients to understand the issues with their equipment and troubleshoot to solve the problem. You will travel to different sites, both private residences and community facilities to accommodate client needs.

What’s in it for you:

Growth opportunity. This is a chance to gain deep and practical insights into our industry, be involved in every aspect of what we do, and take ownership for your own success. You will learn the functionality and benefits of our products and services, and work in partnership with healthcare providers, clients, and your colleagues to ensure an exceptional client experience.

  • Access to our internal Learning Portal, where we have a vast library of training on our products and processes and professional development topics.
  • The opportunity to work with industry leaders who will guide you on your journey and ensure you have the tools you need to succeed.
  • The chance to attend industry events, including Motion’s own Rehab Expos, where you can network with vendors, occupational therapists, and your peers.

How you will spend your days:

  • Diagnose and repair. You will quickly learn how to repair wheelchairs and custom mobility equipment and how to navigate our software system. You will assess issues with manual and power devices, troubleshoot batteries and functionality, and repair equipment.
  • Deliver an exceptional Motion customer experience. You will prioritize an empathic, respectful, and friendly customer experience. You will ensure that clients’ needs are met and that we meet our objective to make life accessible for everyone.
  • Be flexible and mobile. You will work 8-hour shifts and travel to clients' homes and community facilities. You are comfortable adapting your daily schedule to meet the changing needs of clients.

What you bring:

  • Technical skills. You have previous experience in customer service and assembling or repairing equipment. You have exposure to using diagnostic tools and power equipment. You genuinely enjoy learning new tools and approaches to solving tactical challenges.
  • Empathy. You can navigate any situation in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner. You can prioritize the comfort and urgency of clients. You can manage conflict, act with responsive patience to client demands, and understand the impact their mobility devices have on their lives.
  • Additional must-have requirements. You have a valid G-class driver's license and a clean driving record. You will be provided with a company vehicle and will travel regularly throughout the region. You have a clean criminal background check and are bondable. You can lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
