OPEN POSITIONS: RAILCAR BLASTER:

GATX Rail Canada is looking for individuals to fill several full-time positions as RAILCAR BLASTER for its railcars maintenance facility located at 9300 Boulevard Maurice Duplessis in Montreal, Quebec. The individuals in these roles operate the blast equipment to remove paint, dirt, scale, and other materials from inside and/or outside of railcars and associated parts with abrasive steel grit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Carry out sandblasting work on the interior and exterior of railcars before the application of new paint.
  • Adjust blasting equipment, change hoses, and fittings as needed.
  • Execute assigned tasks according to the Health and Safety directives at GATX, in particular with the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (protective clothing, helmets, goggles, gangs, etc.).
  • Inspect the quality of the work performed by our customers has been carried out in a timely manner and according to GATX standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
  • Support ongoing awareness of Health and Safety and where possible recommend changes and improvements to existing policies and programs.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (including certifications):

  • At least a High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as repair manuals, instructions, work orders, etc...
  • Ability to work effectively individually and/or in groups.
  • Initiative: Have a personal motivation and autonomy to determine and carry out important tasks.
  • Diligence and reliability at work: be able to complete all hours of work, rarely absent, and be able to complete all assigned tasks at a reasonable period of time.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions.
  • Must be able to perform overhead work for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift (vertically) up to 85 pounds from the ground surface.
  • Must be able to push/pull (horizontally) up to 140 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate, hearing protection must be worn.
  • Must be able to physically enter confined spaces (rail car manways as small as 18” in diameter) and work in enclosed environments.

WORK SHIFTS:

Morning Shift: Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.

Afternoon Shift: Monday to Thursday: 2:30 PM -1:00 AM.

POSTES À COMBLER:

Notre Centre de maintenance de wagons situé sur 9300 Boulevard Maurice Duplessis à Montréal, Québec est à la recherche de personnes motivées et dynamiques dotées au moins d'un Diplome d'Études Secondaires ou Équivalent pour son département de décapage (sablage au jet). La fonction primaire du Décapeur/Décapeuse de Wagons Ferroviaires consiste à projeter des grains d'acier abrasifs sur la surface interne et externe des wagons ferroviaires à l'aide d'une machine specialisée, afin d'enlever les résidus, la peinture et autres substances étrangères. Ce poste ne requiert pas d'expériences dans le milieu ferroviaire ou activités connexes, GATX fournira toutes les formations necessaires pour exercer les tâches essentielles avec succès et d'une manière securitaire.

LES TÂCHES ET RESPONSABILITÉS ESSENTIELLES comprennent notamment les suivantes:

  • Effectuer des travaux de sablage au jet à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur des wagons ferroviaires avant l'application d'une nouvelle peinture.
  • Ajuster l'équipement de sablage, changer les tuyaux et les raccords au besoin.
  • Exécuter les tâches assignées selon les directives en Santé et Sécurité chez GATX notamment avec le port d’Équipement de Protection Personnel (Vêtements protecteurs, casques, lunettes, gangs, etc.…).
  • Inspecter la qualité du travail accompli et vérifie que tous les travaux demandés par nos clients ont été exécutés au temps opportun et selon les standards de GATX.
  • Maintenir un lieu de travail propre et ordonné.
  • Supporter une sensibilisation continue en santé et sécurité et si possible recommande des changements et améliorations sur les politiques et programmes de santé et sécurité en place.


ÉDUCATION ET / OU EXPÉRIENCE & HABILITÉS COMPORTEMENTALLES AUTRES QUE TECHNIQUES :

  • Diplôme d’études secondaires ou équivalent.
  • Aptitudes à communiquer efficacement, tant à l'oral qu'à l'écrit.
  • Capacité de lire et d’interpréter les documents tels que les manuels de réparation, instructions, ordre de travail, etc.…
  • Capacité de travailler de manière efficace individuellement et/ ou en group.
  • Initiative: avoir une motivation personnelle et autonome pour déterminer et exécuter les tâches importantes.
  • Assiduité et fiabilité au travail : être capable de compléter toutes ses heures de travail, rarement absent et être capable de compléter toutes les taches attribuées dans un délai raisonnable.

QUARTS DE TRAVAIL:

Quart de jour: Lundi au Vendredi, 6:00 – 14:30.
Quart de soir : Lundi au Jeudi, 14:30 – 1:00 .
