Family-owned and operated since 1974, Trail Appliances is the leading independent appliance retailer in Western Canada with 18 stores in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Today, the company is the market leader excelling in providing unparalleled customer service, expert advice, the largest selection in Western Canada, and the most innovative products at competitive prices.

Trail's Prairie stores are separately owned and operated from its BC stores.

Trail Appliances BC is seeking an experienced Senior Director of People and Culture to enhance the organization's human resource function, lead all organizational development activities, and actively promote the development of a workplace culture that promotes performance, accountability, and innovation.

Trail will look to its new People & Culture leader to champion its efforts to enhance its mission to make shopping ridiculously easy!

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working out of the head office in Richmond, you bring a big picture, long-term view to Trail's staffing structure and requirements, while also rolling up your sleeves to enhance and deliver programs.

Recruiting, retention, upskilling, and training have been critical areas for Trail due to the growth it has been experiencing, which shows no signs of slowing.

The business has doubled in size over the past five years and the company requires a human resources professional who can sit at the leadership table, take a proactive approach to human resource programs and continue to instill a culture of community and belonging as business requirements change from the growth.

You are a human resources leader within a medium to large retail or distribution environment, or from a similar industry consisting of a workforce where customer service and warehousing play a key component in the business.

Balancing strategic thinking with a desire to roll up your sleeves and get things done, you will have a depth of experience in progressive recruiting and the development and delivery of training programs to a geographically dispersed employee base.

Strong communication skills, collaborative nature and a customer-first orientation will be key to fitting with the Trail culture.

Based in Trail's head office in Richmond, BC, this is a tremendous opportunity for a human resources leader to contribute at the senior leadership level and influence a positive culture of change while implementing HR systems to scale with the anticipated growth for one of the largest appliance retailers in the country.
