Director of Engineering - Billing and Monetization

Asana is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Billing and Monetization teams. The teams’ mission is to make it effortless for companies to purchase and grow with Asana.

This group builds customer experiences and infrastructure across payments, pricing & packaging, new revenue and other strategic programs to support Asana's rapidly changing business.

This is a manager-of-managers role managing 5 full-stack product engineering teams that partner with many other teams across Asana to make sure our revenue engine successfully powers our mission.

The role is perfect for engineering leaders who thrive in the nexus of engineering, product and business, have an end-to-end ownership mindset and drive for results.

This role is based in our Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner.

What you’ll achieve

  • On Day 1, you'll be responsible for 5 full-stack engineering teams across San Francisco and Vancouver, responsible for Asana's product revenue experiences and systems.
  • You’ll partner with Product Management, Product Design & Data Science leads to execute on vision and strategy for your area and evolve this across product, technical systems and people.
  • You’ll help Asana grow to the next order of magnitude in revenue, empowering both our customers and internal teams to let users buy what they want in an increasingly complex and powerful business.
  • You’ll lead your teams with clear strategic direction and operating conditions, and coach the next generation of technical leaders at Asana.
  • You’ll develop managers in your org and build out the teams in your area.
  • You’ll contribute to organization-wide initiatives as a part of the engineering leadership team.

About you

  • You have successfully managed senior managers and tech leads with a wide range of experiences. You can effectively shape your coaching and mentoring style to guide them in both personal and career growth.
  • You have experience developing a technical and product strategy for your team in collaboration with Product Management, Design & Data Science.
  • You are an empathetic leader with a track record of developing your team while delivering business results.
  • You are comfortable making decisions with nuanced, complicated data, but also with user research and product intuition.
  • You are an excellent partner to different functions across the company.
  • You communicate well to people of different backgrounds, can manage expectations, and influence other teams' behaviors.
  • You are able to scale yourself and your organization, clearly defining responsibilities while planning for people and team growth.
  • Experience with billing and monetization systems and / or SaaS, eCommerce products is desirable.

We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $263,000 - $403,000 CAD. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.

The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.

In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
