Position Information Position Number P00836 Position Title Continuing Studies Instructor - Nursing Unit Assistant Division / Portfolio Continuing Studies and Corporate Training Department / Program C / S Certificate Programs Location Kelowna Other Flexible Work Options Your Opportunity Under the supervision of the Designated Supervisor, the instructor is responsible for instructing curriculum related to the teaching assignment, keeping curriculum current and maintaining related documentation specific to the course.
Functions and Duties Provide teaching and other educational services to participants registered in the program, including advice and instructional assistance as it pertains to course content.
Ensure that participants understand and comply with the rules and policies governing the operation of Okanagan College as outlined in the OC Calendar
Monitor and evaluate participant progress in the course.
Prepare and maintain course materials, course outlines, lesson plans, instructional aids, assignments, exams, and attendance records.
Maintain and submit grade assignments, exams and grading sheets to the Program Administrator / Coordinator, utilizing the standardized grading system of Okanagan College.
Communicate with the Program Administrator / Coordinator on any issue related to student participation or course delivery.
Perform other related duties as required. Education and Experience An undergraduate degree and post secondary teaching experience are preferred;
however, applicants who have completed Grade 12 and possess an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience in their area of expertise may be considered.
An Instructor’s Diploma or valid BC Teacher’s Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred.6 10 years recent relevant experience Skills and Abilities Candidates must be committed to a team approach, demonstrate good written and oral English skills and have good interpersonal skills.

Candidates will be comfortable in a computerized environment and demonstrate knowledge of programs relevant to their discipline.
The successful applicant will be able to encourage communication between students and faculty. Preferred Qualifications Provincial Instructor Diploma or Learner Centred Instructor certificate or equivalent experience and education appropriate to the instructional assignment are preferred.
Experience in curriculum development would be an asset.
