has proudly partnered with . CMWI seeks a strategic and compassionate Executive Director to lead the organization’s operations.

CMWI is a non-for-profit organization founded in 2006. We are a direct-service Family Resource Centre, serving its community through a variety of programs and wrap-around services, that caters to the needs of long-time residents, new immigrants and refugees.

Position Overview .

The Executive Director role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, along with self-motivation to lead a diverse multicultural team.

Responsibilities include overseeing program development, financial management, staff supervision, and fundraising efforts in alignment with the Board’s mandate.

As a mentor, the Executive Director motivates and empowers staff to achieve their potential, reporting directly to the Board President.

They collaborate with stakeholders to ensure strategic goals align with CMWI’s mission, vision, and policies, serving as the primary ambassador and advisor to the Board.

This pivotal role contributes significantly to improving the lives of refugees, newcomers, and community members in need.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Leadership and Vision : Provide strategic leadership to CMWI, including operational plan, grant proposal writing, program development, financial management and funders and donors relations.

Work with Board and staff to ensure the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

Leadership and Development : Acts as spokesperson for the organization, provides mentorship and guidance to CMWI’s team, fostering a work environment that champions growth, operational excellence and team collaboration.

Ensuring the efficient administration of day-to-day activities and positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.

Promotes constructive relationships between the board and staff to enhance the understanding and appreciation of respective roles.

Operational Innovation and Process Improvement : Develop and implement operational procedures and processes to reflect the changes in the organization and its services.

Improve organizational efficiencies and capitalize on grant opportunities. Budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making to ensure that the organization is financially sound and operating with financial prudence.

Draft policies and procedures and recommend changes to the Board as necessary.

Fundraising and Development : Design, execute and evaluate fundraising strategies that includes monthly / annual donations, special events and annual fundraising gala.

Lead these strategies with a proactive stance on identifying and cultivating new funding streams and funders / donors relationships, ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability and growth.

Community Engagement and Partnerships : Act as the organization’s primary ambassador, exploring partnership opportunities and engaging with diverse community partners, funders and stakeholders.

Maintain communication links with partnership developed.

Program Development and Management : Develop and implement a strategic program planning process to identify programs that align with the organization’s mission and goals, working closely with staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure that programs are effective, efficient and meet the needs of the organization’s constituents.

Promote the organization’s programs and services to key stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, community partners, and the media, to increase awareness and support for the organization’s mission.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-Secondary education, and or a combination of experience and skills
  • Hands on management or supervisory experience, preferably in the non-for-profit sector that could be related to the Multicultural context or other similar organizations
  • Strong command of the English Language (spoken and written)
  • Proposal writing skills
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Experience with Federal and Provincial grants will be an asset
  • Good Time Management and Prioritizing skills.
  • Proven interpersonal, conflict resolution, problem solving and relationship skills in a multi-cultural setting
  • Strong computer skills including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Social Media, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, schedule calendar, etc.
  • A culturally sensitive background will be an asset
  • Arabic and or Somali languages will be an asset

Condition of Employment :

As a Condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child abuse Registry Check.

Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Remote work is not available.

Compensation and Benefits :

  • $65,000 $70,000 per year depending on experience.
  • Hours : 9-5pm. Evenings & weekends as needed.
  • Benefits 50% employer covered.
  • Vacation : 3-weeks.
  • Any Muslim holidays are days off
  • Parking is subsidized at 50%.
