has been retained by The Manitoba Teachers’ Society for the recruitment of their next Executive Director . Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and reporting directly to the elected Provincial Executive (Board), the Executive Director is accountable for achieving the vision, goals, and strategic plan of the Society, implementing the directions of the Provincial Executive, and directing and mentoring staff in effective operational business plan execution, policy application, and program delivery to ensure the needs of its members are met.
The Executive Director is responsible for the effective overall growth, implementation of the Society’s strategic plan and operational management of the Society. The successful candidate must foster and maintain positive relationships, strategic partnerships, and alliances with internal and external stakeholders to effectively advocate for the members of the Society. In addition, this person must also manage staff under separate collective agreements, and maintain a healthy, productive workplace.
The Position :
This leader is a role model who supports a positive and collaborative culture focused on building strong teams that serve the membership. This position requires a high level of organizational leadership, managerial confidentiality, and professional judgment. The ED is expected to attend the workplace on a daily basis; flexible working arrangements may be available on request.
Candidates must possess a minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in a senior management position. A graduate degree in Education or Management with a minimum of five to
seven years of progressive experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset. A strong working knowledge of the Manitoba Public Education system will also be considered an asset.
The successful candidate will be a proven leader with superior communication and interpersonal skills with effective conflict resolution and analytical experience; a collaborative leadership style in strategic and operational planning with a proven track record of delivering results is essential to this position. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to handle multiple tasks in a demanding environment and have knowledge of professional topics and trends in education. Applicants must possess a proven track record in public relations, networking, strategic thinking, mentoring, and execution skills to provide informed leadership, with a deep understanding of unionized environments and government legislative processes. Experience in policy development and contract negotiations would be desirable. Fluency in French will be considered an asset.
