Job description

Kinark Child and Family Services has a rich 50-year history serving children and youth through a wide range of evidence-based mental health services that include individual, family, and group counselling. Job Description

Job Summary :

Reporting to the Program Manager, the will coordinate the day to day operations of the Syl Apps Youth Centre. In addition the Program Coordinator ensures appropriate staffing ratios and coverage for programming of youths in the unit, school, court, passes, recreation, plans of care meetings while maintaining the safety and security for staff, residents, teachers and visitors at Syl Apps.

$30.88 / hr CAD- $34.07 / hr CAD Compensation is negotiable and will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications.

Duties & Responsibilities (are not limited to) :

  • Assign and re-assign staff to ensure operations run smoothly, including adequate short-term shift coverage in consultation with other managers.
  • Act as Manager in charge of the facility (in consultation with on-call manager) after normal business hours, during weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Provide support and direction to units in potentially difficult, volatile situations.
  • Coordinate and direct responses to emergencies, assist in providing debriefing sessions following critical incidents.
  • Liaise with internal and external representatives in Placement Coordination Unit, other secure and open facilities.
  • Assign and re-assign staff to ensure operations run smoothly, including adequate short-term shift coverage in consultation with other managers Provide supervision & support to Relief staff and including hiring, discipline and performance appraisals.
  • Coordinate all aspects of court transport including administration.
  • Qualifications and Skills :

  • Child and Youth Worker Diploma is required.
  • Minimum 3 years related leadership experience.
  • Experience in a residential / secure treatment will be considered a significant asset.
  • Knowledge and working experience with Evidence Based Practices such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical.
  • Candidates Bilingual in English and French will be given special consideration.
  • Please note that Equivalent combination of education & experience will be considered.
  • Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening or Criminal Broad Record Check, based on position, and completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate. Criminal record check disclosures with confirmed findings will be reviewed in accordance with applicable policies and relevant legislation and does not necessarily preclude employment. Each case is reviewed individually and considers the relevance of the findings to assess the implications to employment
