Position : Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Reporting to : Vice President, Human Resources

Who We Are : Carrier Enterprise Canada (CEC) is a national distributor of residential and light commercial Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration products, parts and supplies through licensed HVAC / R dealers and contractors. CE operates primarily in the business-to-business environment where its products are sold through licensed HVAC dealers and HVAC contractors. These dealers are independent companies that sell, deliver and service Carrier, Bryant & Payne products to residences and businesses in their respective markets. CEC offers customers a wide range of HVAC / R product lines, competitive pricing, best-in-class customer service and valuable, time-saving services that positions CEC as an industry leader. With 34 locations in Canada and over 150+ locations, in 28 states, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Latin America, Mexico, there is a location to service our customers HVAC / R needs.

Payroll Specialist will act as the primary liaison between our employees, internal HR / Finance teams, and ADP Comprehensive Payroll Services (CMS). While ADP manages most payroll administration, compliance, and government remittances, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring payroll data is accurate, timely, and aligned with company policies, while supporting employees with payroll inquiries and reporting needs.

This position requires strong communication (French & English), exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience using ADP Workforce Now

The Opportunity :

  • Payroll Input & Validation
  • Collect, review, and validate employee payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, job / compensation changes, overtime, vacation, and other adjustments.
  • Submit accurate and approved payroll data to ADP for processing.
  • Review payroll preview reports provided by ADP, identify discrepancies, and approve final runs.
  • Ensure payroll deadlines are met according to ADP’s processing calendar.
  • Act as a liaison with supervisors to ensure time card exceptions are rectified
  • Coordinate program execution requirements with regional GMs and Account Managers
  • Assist with additional marketing duties as required

Benefits & HR Coordination

  • Process employee benefit changes (enrollments, terminations, status updates) and validate deductions align with payroll.
  • Partner with HR team on compensation changes, new hires, and terminations to ensure accurate and timely updates in ADP.
  • Employee Support & HR Partnership

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, including pay statements, deductions, direct deposits, and tax forms.
  • Provide guidance on self-service tools in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Support HR with payroll-related aspects of onboarding, offboarding, and employee changes.
  • Generate and distribute payroll and HR reports from ADP Workforce Now for Finance, HR, and leadership.
  • Assist in year-end reporting validation (e.g., T4s, ROEs) prepared by ADP.
  • Conduct audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Coordination with ADP CMS

  • Partner with ADP Payroll Specialists and Client Service Manager to resolve issues, escalations, and exceptions.
  • Participate in quarterly and year-end reviews with ADP, supporting balancing and audit processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll SOPs in alignment with ADP best practices.
  • Skills and Behaviors

  • 3–5 years of Canadian payroll experience with exposure to benefits administration.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (required).
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards (required)
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support employees at all levels.
  • PCP designation (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) or in progress is considered an asset.

  • Pay Range : $60,000 - $75,000 Annual

    This pay range is not a gurantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to resposibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining (if any).

    Incentive Compensation : As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Carrier General Bonus Program.
