Summer Employment Program – Administrative Assistant (12-week)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Seabird Island Band is excited to once again be providing Summer Placement Programs for Post-Secondary students. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for taking care of the essential everyday tasks like filing, record keeping, report preparation, scheduling, and data entry.

This is a term position that will end on August 30, 2024 or when you complete 420 hours.

Eligibility requirements :

  • Must be Aboriginal status / non-status, on / off reserve who resides within the SASET catchment area.
  • Must be 15 years of age or older and returning to school.
  • Must have a valid Social Insurance number.
  • Enrolled in full-time Post-Secondary School during 2023-2024 and returning full-time in September 2024.
  • All Service Canada Personal Information Forms (PIFS) and Client Consent Forms (CC’s) must be submitted prior to commencement of program.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support for routine office tasks.
  • Assist in resolving any administrative problems.
  • Respond to client queries on answer calls from customers regarding their inquiries.
  • Assist clients to identify available resources and alternative means of support.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist in completing program forms promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain professional and accurate client service records.
  • Maintain an up-to-date filing system.
  • Printing, copying, scanning, and sorting meeting packages as required.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Executive Director or Chief & Council.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to take direction from the Supervisor
  • Proficient computer skills with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.)
  • Proficient interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to agree as well as adhere to Seabird Island Band Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Information Technology (IT) Policies and Procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó : lō culture, traditions and language or willingness to learn.
  • Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRC)
