The Department of Mathematics is consistently ranked as one of the best in Canada. The Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto is dedicated to providing programs and resources for students, parents, and teachers, as well as those with a general interest in mathematics. The Mathematics Outreach Office develops and administers programs for students and teachers in Grade 1-12. We aim to foster enthusiasm for math and increase accessibility of math programs. We’re looking for an individual with a passion and enthusiasm for math education.
Under the direct supervision of the Outreach Administrator, the Outreach Coordinator provides administrative support to the Math Outreach programs (e.g. Summer and March Break Camps, Saturday Math Clubs, Youth Enrichment Programs, Girls in STEM Program, and Fields Trip Program). This role would also develop and maintaining content for volunteers, provide supervision to groups of children during lunch breaks and pre- and after-care, during full day programs and coordinate school visits with public school teachers as part of the Field Trips Program.
Note : a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required to work in this position and is expected to work weekends.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Coordinating program schedules with stakeholders
- Disseminating and collecting surveys and questionnaires and monitoring curriculum issues raised by contacts
- Coordinating logistics for events and attending events, classes, and programs to provide troubleshooting and assistance
- Coordinating accreditation and / or program audit processes
- Answering routine questions and concerns from participants, parents, and instructors, referring non-routine and sensitive matters
- Coordinating the production and distribution of communication materials to parents, participants and instructors as well as for events and program brochures
- Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
- Generating reports from databases, including a list of professors and students interested in volunteering in the Math Outreach programs, and tracking volunteer hour
