This job description outlines the role of a Space Planner within a retail environment, reporting to the Manager of Space Planning & Analytics. The primary responsibility is to design, build, and maintain planograms (POGs), which are detailed visual representations of how merchandise should be displayed in store. The Space Planner ensures these POGs align with the company’s merchandising strategy, visual standards, and optimization targets, as well as accurately reflect assortment decisions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Planogram Creation and Maintenance :
- Design and build planograms using JDA Space Planning Software that optimize space usage, improve sales, and maintain visual merchandising standards.
- Ensure the POGs meet merchandising safety standards and follow best practices.
- Translate product assortments and strategies into store-specific planograms, considering factors like bay count, fixture types, and store environment.
- Analysis and Optimization :
- Analyze the performance of planograms in terms of sales, profitability, and inventory productivity .
- Make recommendations for planogram adjustments based on data and key performance metrics.
- Ensure planograms contribute positively to customer experience and operational efficiency.
- Collaboration and Communication :
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve issues related to planogram building and execution.
- Present and discuss planogram recommendations, alternatives, and metrics with the Space Planning and Merchandising Management teams.
- Quality Control and Execution :
- Ensure the accuracy of planograms by performing quality checks on assortment listings and store data.
- Address deficiencies promptly and in alignment with service level agreements (SLAs).
- Special Projects and Continuous Improvement :
- Participate in projects aimed at improving the space planning process, contributing to the evolution of the department.
