We are currently growing our operation and are seeking an Industrial Millwright. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Millwright is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all equipment and facilities and for fabrication of components, guards, or other items as required. Our Maintenance Department is operating on a three shift rotation and consists of both Electrical and Millwright trades.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and remedy mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic problems in the production areas.
- Perform all duties as outlined by the Provincial Government in accordance with Regulated Trade 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright.
- Possess all hand tools that are common to the trade.
- Work and perform preventive maintenance on all welders, weld fixtures and all other equipment in the facility.
- Read, interpret and use micrometers, verniers, and similar measuring tools.
- Operate and use machine tools, lathes, mills, grinders, drills, etc.
- Have working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Line up shafts and couplings, motors and drivers, etc.
- Scrape and bed bearings, ways, slides and gibs.
- Determine cause of breakdowns and establish actions for remedy.
- Evaluate press performance by sound / visual indicators and report conditions to prevent damage.
- Troubleshoot on all automatic lubrication systems and ensure lubrication reaches all machine points.
- Remove broken pieces of equipment and repair by welding or complete refit and reassembly of replacement parts.
- Establish wear points and determine slop related to crankshaft bearings, Pittman bearings, knuckle joints, etc.
- Complete overhauls and major repairs to plant machinery and equipment.
- Have working knowledge of air logic (pneumatic) and hydraulic logic controls.
- Safely dismantle, move, or lift heavy equipment, and understand lifting capacities of cables, slings, shackles and related gear.
- Understand load capacities of weighted chains at various lift angles and ensure safe operation.
- Level machine foundations, grout as necessary, and level heavy equipment during installation.
- Read and follow instruction manuals, blueprints, drawings and sketches for installation and setup of equipment.
- Disassemble, match-mark, and identify components for moving or shipping, ensuring easy reassembly.
- Set proper tension and clearance for gibs and bearings according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Use acetylene / propane torches or arc gouging torches and weld / braze as required.
- Layout floor plans to position mounting holes for equipment and ensure proper alignment.
- Operate with minimal supervision and guide apprentices and helpers as needed.
- Work in compliance with the Safety Act and regulations.
Qualifications
Must hold a valid Ontario License Certificate of Qualification issued by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities or complete an 8000-hour bona fide apprenticeship, or have eight years of practical experience in the skilled trade with journey-person designation.Practical experience in a manufacturing environment (press, hydraulic, and stamping) is desired.Must be okay with a three shift rotation.Accessibility
