Overview
This is a hybrid technical role combining in-office lighting controls design and support with on-site commissioning and troubleshooting, based on project demand. The Lighting Controls Technician will act as a key technical resource, supporting Mac’s II project teams, contractors, and end users to ensure lighting control systems are properly designed, commissioned, and handed over.
The role bridges the gap between specification, installation, and operation—ensuring systems perform as intended in the field.

Key Responsibilities
Program, commission, and troubleshoot lighting control systems on active job sitesPerform system startup, functional testing, and deficiency resolutionSupport post-order service issues, warranty calls, and system adjustmentsDesign & In-Office Technical Support
Provide in-house technical assistance for lighting control layouts, designs, and quotationsReview drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with design intent and system capabilitiesAssist with control zoning, device schedules, risers, and documentationField & End-User Support
Work directly with electrical contractors during installation and commissioning phasesTrain building operators, facility managers, and end users on system operationProvide clear, professional technical guidance tailored to varying levels of technical experienceCollaborate with Mac’s II project managers, sales teams, and manufacturer partnersAct as a technical liaison between consultants, contractors, distributors, and end usersMaintain accurate commissioning records and system documentationTravel
Travel throughout the Lower Mainland to job sites as requiredA personal vehicle is required for this roleQualifications & Experience
Technical Skills
Experience with lighting control systems programming and commissioning (strong asset)Experience using Bluebeam for drawing review and markupsUnderstanding of control system design and electrical control wiring methodsWorking knowledge of networking fundamentals (servers, routers, switches)Education
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree or Diploma, or equivalent technical education preferred.Professional Attributes
