Job Summary :

The Senior Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring that the manufacturing business has a reliable supply chain in place to support production activities while effectively managing costs and maintaining quality standards.

Job Responsibilities :

Identifying potential suppliers for raw materials, components, and services needed for manufacturing as well as indirect spend related to maintenance, repairs and operations.

Negotiating contracts and terms with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality. Adherence to the manufacturing schedule, issuing purchase orders in a timely manner.

Analyzing costs associated with materials and services and implementing strategies to optimize spending while maintaining quality standards.

This may involve negotiating prices, finding alternative suppliers, or implementing cost-saving initiatives

Monitoring inventory levels of raw materials and components to ensure that production is not interrupted due to shortages.

Optimizing inventory levels to minimize excess inventory while avoiding stockouts.

Collaborating with suppliers to ensure that materials and components meet quality standards required for manufacturing.

Implementing quality control measures to identify and address any issues with materials or components.

  • Identifying potential risks in the supply chain, such as supplier reliability, geopolitical factors, or market fluctuations, and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards in sourcing and procurement activities. This may include environmental regulations, labor laws, and product safety standards.

Review and updating records of Material Safety Data Sheets for products used at the facility, as well as requesting updated information from suppliers.

Continuously evaluating and improving sourcing and procurement processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance.

This may involve implementing new technologies, providing oversight, streamlining procedures, or adopting best practices.

Overseeing the functional tasks of incoming and outgoing product and ensuring compliance with scheduling and regulatory matters.

Job Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Several years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in a mold manufacturing environment
  • Experience with plastic injection molding and tooling is required.
  • Progressively responsible roles in procurement or purchasing, including experience with both direct and indirect procurement, are beneficial.
  • Experience with supplier relationship management, negotiation, and contract management is essential.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, supplier performance data, and cost structures to make informed procurement decisions.
  • Strong negotiation skills to obtain favorable terms and pricing from suppliers.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Understanding of supply chain principles, including inventory management, logistics, and demand forecasting.
